Hello again
Over the past few weeks, I have been pondering over this question: Where can I get the complete set of Audience SFX from the vaults of ABC TV Center (I think it now called Prospect Studios), NBC Burbank and CBS TV City?
Today, in my mind, I could hear the familiar NBC laugh tracks whenever a funny category was revealed on Win Ben Stein's Money.

I had a playground in my mind today.
Anyhow--I thought you had a Yahoo! group for this sort of thing?

Man, I love you guys, but if you can really tell where a show taped solely based on the laugh track....
-
They're right over there....there....behind the Ferranti-Packer board....keep going...they're there...behind the board....
Seriously, why not just buy the Electra Records sound effects CD's, they sound just as good.

Hello AGAIN, indeed. Didn't we already entertain this same thread from this same member?
I remember posting that NBC's hiss-laden, mono audience reaction McKenzie tapes were in too poor condition when NBC closed its sound effects department to make an attempt at salvaging them more trouble than it's worth. Didn't we also discuss the current TPiR sweeteners at CBS and the independent sweet-meisters who rolled into post sessions with their magic equipment, etc., etc? Or is this all an acid flashback in my mind from the last LIVE-AID? How much can those people in Africa eat, anyway? But I digress.
Yes, this does look familiar:
Ryan_Conley194,Jul 11 2005, 07:46 PM
I wonder if there is any way that I can acquire these audience SFX heard on many NBC or CBS game shows.
It's all HERE (http://\"http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=933&hl=\")

And I suspect we will continue to entertain it until he hears the answer he wants to hear, or is forcibly removed from the premises. So let's try the former:
Ryan, you can find all three libraries in complete downloadable form at www.youneedtogetoutmore.com.

Where on the web site are they?

Hence the "a little more" tag. Some pages aren't translated yet (and I'd like to read it straight, so AltaVista won't be an option).

You gotta be friggin' KIDDING me.
-
Why ask if if closed before or after 11-September-2001? Why not 2003? Or 1992? What difference does it make?
When in doubt, go with the old standby:
"Wow".
I'm really glad Chris doesn't get a royalty each time someone says that. Because he'd have all my money.

NBC shuttered their West Coast SFX Dept after over 50 years in either late 2001 or very early 2002. I was doing both Weakest Link and Supermarket Sweep on the lot at the time. I can't nail the date down any closer without more work than I'm willing to do.
But as the department was marked for closure months and months and months before the room was finally emptied, I can assure you it had nothing to do with 9/11. Besides, there were a lot higher priorities being addressed on the lot in the wake of the terrorist attacks than removing slide whistles and doorbells.

What the hell does 9/11 have to do with anything? I guess I do have a new candidate for my ignore list. I want to know why you thought 9/11 had any significance at all.

If you're offended by the mere mention of the events of 9/11, then....dude.
That said, since most of Ryan's have been inept and irrelevant sound effects questions (the last of which Randy was FAR more gracious about answering than he needed to be), one would hope that he becomes moderated, and soon.

I'd like to take this opportunity to plug the Recipe section of my website. And recently I found an easy gazpacho recipe, which I plan to try very soon. (Especially because it's pretty hot in Seattle this week!)
