Now that G4 has run all 26 Mark Richards eps, have they been inserted into the rotation or was it a one time thing?
-
I am not sure. They seem to be running the Geoff Edwards episodes now. Starcade is the only thing I watch on G4. The one episode that is coming up that I am looking forward to is the all Dragon's Lair episode. I loved that game when I was younger.
-
Lucky you.....I don't even get G4. Hopefully I'll be able to get it before the Richards eps come around again [assuming they've been put into the rotation]

What is G4? I might be a little behind...

Believe it or not, this episode is on DVD! It's an extra on the 20th Anniversary Dragon's Lair Box Set.
A page dedicated the Starcade extra (http://\"http://www.retrocrush.com/archive2/dragonslair/starcade.html\")

Hey Chris,
I bought it here:
http://store.yahoo.com/i-software/104688.html (http://\"http://store.yahoo.com/i-software/104688.html\")
It is the only place on the web I saw it available. They ship via Fedex ground and my total with shipping is $40.90. I saw them on eBay but in most cases they actually were more money.

Thanks for the tip. I found one, sealed, on an Ebay auction (I would have found Bits.com had I thought to search \"Dragons Lair\" in addition to \"Dragon's Lair\", and for someone who prides himself on his ability to do an effective Google search this is inexcusable, but hey, it was three in the morning), so I ended up paying a few bucks more, as you said, but I don't mind too much as I've been wanting those DVD's for a LONG time, and I've been under the impression that they were out of print, so as long as I wasn't buying used ones at thirty a shot I figure I'm doing OK. Brand new, under $20 each, I'm fine with :) Hopefully someone else who wants 'em reads these messages and can save a few bones in the process.
(BTW, now that I think to check my favorite search engine for these things, DVDPriceSearch.com, I see that DeepDiscountDVD (who I have done much business with) has it for $35.26, free shipping. Lesson: Think before Ebaying at three in the morning. :))

IIRC, the Dragon's Lair DVD has cutting room floor scenes.

Indeed :) According to a review I read all three also have the ability to just play through the game by themselves if you just wanna watch, and in the case of DL you can do that with or without the levels that didn't make it into the actual arcade game.
(This, by the way, is one of those technology leaps that makes me shake my head. It's also why I love emulators like MAME so much. If you told me, say, fifteen years ago (Maybe even ten, but I can say fifteen with certainty), that I would be playing an arcade-perfect duplicate of DRAGON'S LAIR (ARCADE-PERFECT! Think of that! Who remembers playing Donkey Kong or Pac Man on their Atari 2600?), that I wouldn't need a special console to do it, and in fact I'd be able to shove it off into a little corner window on my PC, I would laugh in your face and think you were yankin' my chain. Just amazing.)
(Okay, now who do we have to kill to get one of these made for Cliff Hanger? :))
-
The cool part of those scenes is those were recently put together with existing game footage onto a laserdisc. I bought one last year. With that and a simple rom swap, I can actually play those scenes in my DL machine. Very cool.
Beware though. There are annoying pauses between each move. It's not as smooth as the arcade.

G4 is in 11 million homes. Nielsen doesn't rate nets until they make it to 20 million. And if you're basing your claim on message board response or a web poll, those are totally unscientific and have only a tenuous relationship to actual audience figures.
I won't say that Nielsen is perfect, but until Big Brother (in the Orwellian sense, not the DeMol/Shapiro/Chenian sense) has bugged every cable and satellite box--and you don't want that, don't you?--companies like Nielsen are as good as we're ever going to get.

Any proof on this? I wouldn't say that it's their most popular show, but it definitely gets the most vulgar reviews as well as praise out of all of G4's message boards!
Also, to answer other questions, it seems that G4 just runs the shows in any order they please; there seems no rhyme or reason to the order (they did run all of Richards' eps. in order, though, when they were first announced). According to their website, they do have all 136 episodes, so it's just up to them as far as what gets shown, I guess.
However, if you go to their website (g4tv.com), you can see a detailed schedule of what eps. they will be showing for I believe up to two weeks.
I know most of these weren't explicitly asked, but I thought I'd just save some time!
