Title: Video Village & Video Village Junior
Post by: alfonzos on June 02, 2005, 06:12:45 PM
The only difference between the two gameboards I can remember is along Money Street was a space entitled "Penny Pile." The player was given an amount of time (thirty seconds?) to scoop as many pennies as possible into a pail. The player kept the money.

Does anybody remember any others?

On VV Jr., the kids got to fish for prizes from a pile of them located underneath the bridge, which was placed just before the main street floor tiles.

The Bank paid off in Savings Bonds.

Eileen Barton & Kenny Williams dressed in costume for VV Jr.

The winner's song that was sung by Eileen and Monty as the bus (actually, an electric cart) took the kids back to the Wonder Window had lyrics that differed from the grown-up's version.

One of the stores was called the Eldon Toy Shop (Eldon was a sponsor IIRC).  But I am positive the actual name of the kids' version was Kideo Village.

No-- I do see references to that in various places, but the actual name was "Video Village Jr."

Or as Kenny Williams announced, "Welcome to Video Village, Junior Edition!"

Was the chuck-a-luck cage still in use as a random number generator?

By the end of the run, both the adult and junior versions of V.V. used the "Video Village Visualizer Wonder Window", which was controlled by each player's elected partners.  It was electronic, and displayed numbers from 1 to 6, which Kenny Williams would then call out for the benefit of Monty & Eileen, who were too far away to see it.
