Title: WWTBAM India website...
Post by: Blanquepage on May 28, 2005, 10:34:03 PM
The Indian mega-smash version is returning in August, and the website has already been relaunched.  They have a section for the KBC2 and KBC1 which includes video clips.

http://kbc2.indya.com/kbc1/kbc1_bol.html (http://\"http://kbc2.indya.com/kbc1/kbc1_bol.html\")

Click on video clips and find the one entitled "losers" and see two instances of what it's like to miss the 15th question.

Thanks for the heads up, Jimmy.  So now ABC is being followed by another intelligent broadcaster ready to recapture the success (if I recall correctly, India had the higest number of people watching nightly, for obvious reasons).  I hope that ABC decides to bring back the primetime Super version here too.

Don't you need a password and username to view the page?

No, you shouldn't need a password.  It looks like the page was updated since yesterday, so maybe you tried it before the updated site was up and running.  Try again and it might work.  Also, make sure you have an updated version of Windows Media Player.

I visited the site for the first time today, and my WMP is updated. It still asks me for a password.

Looks like the site is back up again.  I just checked it out and it appears that one of the new wrinkles for Crorepati 2 is the "flip/switch the question" lifeline:

KBC 2 Rules (http://\"http://kbc2.indya.com/kbc2/rules.html\")

There's no mention of the specifics, but I'm guessing it will work the same way it works here in the US syndie version (i.e. it won't become available until question 11).  No sign of double dip or three wise men, though.

Was Reege's version the first in the world that deviated from Celador UK's format? Are they loosening the strict contract they have with production companies?

How did it deviate? You mean the Mega-Millionaire period?

I'd consider the Australian version the first deviation; the standard is 15 questions to a million, but the Australian one originally started out with 11 questions. This was back in '99, a couple of months before the US imported it.
ANY disparities need to be cleared with Celador beforehand as Paul Smith himself stated in a UK WWTBAM documentary.

KBC2 starts tomorrow (Friday) in India but lucky UK viewers will see it on the same day.

Rule Changes

1) To confirm that the "Flip" option will be brought in for the Indian version as a fourth lifeline. This lifeline can be used from question 6 onwards to go along with the ATA, 50:50 & PAF.

2) The FFF players who don't reach the hotseat can win R's 200,000 by answering the questions used on that night. The person who answers the most and in the fastest time will pocket the cash.

Now that's one of the best ideas i've seen yet. MUCH better than 3 wise men.

My favorite is in the losers clip...

Watch the second question 15 loser: when the shot goes to his family in the audience, his father (my best guess) has a look on him like "You are so out of the family."

Better than the US Llama Incident?

Tonight's Indian Millionaire has to be one of the most hilarious moments ever. Contestant Prasnajit Mukherji had this question for his first question on the money tree.

Q) What is the short, cropped hair cut popularly referred to as?
A) Navy Cut  B) Group Cut  C) Team Cut D) Crew Cut

He decided to jump for Navy Cut but after Bachchan asked him whether he was sure, he chose to ATA.

A) 55% B) 3% C) 1% D) 41%

After the audience agreed what the contestant said he decided to go for Navy Cut. Once locked in the Big B had to give the bad news and revealed the correct answer as Crew Cut. WHOOPS!
