Among the teens and twentysomethings in the audience for tonight's episode of American Idol is none other than...

Alex Trebek!  Even Ryan Seacrest got to interview him!

    Brian

So if you saw Alex Trebek during a commercial for Viagra, would you post that too?

That, of course, is a little different :) The commercial CENTERED around a game show.
This yutz would post if he saw a silhouette of Bob Barker on his grilled cheese sandwich, because it "pertains to game shows".

Not to defend Henke, because 99 times out of 100 his posts are utterly useless, but there are those who would argue that Idol is a game show.

They'd be idiots, but they exist.

I agree. AI is as much a game show as "Star Search" was.

I thought the post could be helpful for those who wanted to see Alex, but don't otherwise tune into AI. I think your post was needlessly mean. I am always uncomfortable when I hear board members referring to other members by names. It adds nothing to this board and takes away quite a bit. At least let us have the illusion of civility.

If you don't have anything nice to say, sit next to me...but don't feel the need to express your discontent every time you find a post objectionable.

Of course, I again find myself criticizing another poster. I just hope I did so in a civil way. I'll not be calling you a "yutz".

It would help if said posters content, which it is 99.5% of the time wasn't:

A Hoosier Millionare reference (who cares)
A NASCAR reference (no one cares)
A refrence to a dead celebrity in Cincinatti (no one cares)
An obscure game show reference (no one cares)

Other than those, his posts are great!

Joe, you are absolutely right. More often than not, it's easy to open mouth without thinking, and that's exactly what I did. I was out of line in calling Brian a "yutz". I just wish he wouldn't feel the need to think he needs to post here every time he sees something to do with game shows when it's something out of the ordinary.

If his posts are objectionable to you and fall outside the rules, let an admin know. If his posts remain objectionable to you, but do fall under the rules, killfile him.

Attack the post and not the poster.

Normally I agree that Henke's posts about game show host appearances and the like are a little too, er, random, but I think this particular instance was interesting and significant enough to warrant a post.  But maybe it's just me.

For once, someone agrees with me.

Brian, I apologize for calling you a "yutz". That was out of line. I just wish I knew why you take upon yourself to think you need to post every time you see a game show reference on TV, no matter how far removed from a game show it is.

On Golden-Road someone recently argued that Jeopardy! is a sport.  In ATGS someone argued that Playboy TV's Night Calls and Sex Court were game shows; the same person later argued in IM that bra commercials were game shows.

Statements like those are what allow Brian Henke's posts to appear positively insightful by comparison. ;-)

Sorry folks, but I have to say this, after Constantine Maroulis had IMO the best performance of the night with "Nights on Broadway"...

Stayin' alive with the Bee Gees!

Have you seen some of the former champions having conniptions with the buzzer lately? It might qualify.

Thanks, GS...Now I've got the SNL "Barry Gibb Talk Show" theme running loops in my mind..

Now if Alex would have done his "Pitfall Dance of Joy" on last night's salute to dance tunes, *that* would be news!

Anywho, back to the game shows before I get nailed by the mods and others who wish to throw things at me for an attempt at a bloody awful joke.........

The person who said Jeopardy was a sport..............good grief. X_X

Yo Dave..........those dingbats at ATGS would probably think that someone crapping their pants is a hit game show.  So that doesn't surprise me one bit. :-P

Now THERE'S a show where a celebrity week would be damned entertaining....

"Here's Jamie Farr! And Fannie Flagg! From Television City in Hollywood, they're here to play ALL-STAR INCONTENENCE!"

(Do NOT schedule this anywhere NEAR "What's That Smell?", please. :))
