If a tournament champion's two-day total exceeds the first place prize, does the contestant keep it all?

Yes, these minimum guarantees apply to all three finalists, win or lose.

I really hate talking out my ass, but I swear I've seen this happen before, and I want to say it was a Teen Tournament in the late-90s. From my memory, the answer is no. If I'm wrong, then I'll gladly sit corrected.

Hey, if you're gonna speak ex-rectum, you need to acknowledge the fact...not stating names.

And those are JUST the winners.  Dozens of second and third place finishers have kept more than their guaranteed minimums as well.

I know in the 1990's it was announced all the time, especially during the Teen and College championships, that the players received exactly what the earned if they were above the minimum.

However, on the Tournament of Champions, the day someone goes over the minimum mark (unless it's still at $100,000, then it's possible) will be the day we find an ultimate Jeopardy champion. People knew it was an accomplishment, especially with the material difficulty and who was playing, to even get $25,000 in a tournament of champions before the stakes were doubled.

The ToC is played for $250,000 now. Not likely to be beaten.
