Just a request...
Did anybody tape the show today? The end credits ran extra long today, and we could hear the elusive full second half of the theme song...That is, if it wasn't interrupted by your local affiliate, like it was in Seattle.
If anybody taped it, and it wasn't interrupted, may I have an audio clip of it? I don't have much to exchange for it, but I hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance.

Now I wish I had. Apparently, I'm not the only one looking for that...

If it's the theme you want, here's the whole thing. Props to the artist formerly known as Game Show Steve for providing this to the squadron earlier this week:

No, the theme they play after the credits has no sax in it.
-
No sax and no guitar. In my opinion, the on-air version is better than the one linked.
-
This will be almost no help, but there was an episode right before the Teen Tournament started that had almost the *entire* theme playing at the end. They held the contestant shots for about 15 seconds before each break as well. Fast game.
-
I think they used the one I posted for a couple of years, then switched to a sax-less version. I've not yet gotten my hands on the latter.
-
What I was thinking about doing is taking the clip that is linked above, and the clip I'm asking for (if I can get it), then creatively melding them together. It may or may not work.
Right now I wish I wasn't tone deaf, otherwise I'd slave to make a decent midi of it.

My station's even worse...they don't air the theme at all. They go right from the Final Jeopardy reveal, and before Alex even shakes hands with everybody, they cut to the Sony logo, then run their own credits squeezed with promos. I don't think they've played the end theme for years...and it's kind of annoying.
-
I taped it, if anyone's interested.

Ah, well. I tried. Hope you find what you're after.

Would that be the CTV network in Canada? Doesn't sound like they run the fee plugs, either.

On WABC (at least during the Jennings run when I was able to watch that affiliate), they would always drown out the theme with a Regis promo. At least WTEN doesn't do that, but both stations, and WPTZ I think end the show once the verse in the key of B ends (the one where you really can't hear any melody at all).

WLS always does a squeezeback during the credits to promo the 4 p.m. news that follows "J!" The theme's muted or brought very low, but at least they're not playing the news theme instead. I can deal with it, just like I can when WBBM squeezes back the "TPIR" plug list to promo their 11 a.m. news.

Ah! Can you record a decent audio clip and email it to me? Please? I'll be in your debt.

By the way, they did it again today (2/28).

As I tried to e-mail whoserman (and BTW, your e-mail address bounced...), I have no capability to record audio off the tape, but I could probably send it to someone and let them do it...
(Apologies for not viewing this topic for a couple of days...)
edit: now I see that the address you provided above is different, whoserman...guess I'll try that one, but you may want to remove the non-functional AOL account from your account here...
-
Thanks for reminding me. I totally forgot about that email address.
I live under a house rule saying I cannot disclose my home address to anybody over the internet, so you can't send the tape to me. Perhaps if someone else could do it...

You WHAT?
Man. I'm all for living under your parents rule if they're footin' the bill, but...man. Some parents really need to be beaten.
-
Well, what can I say? Concerned parents. They don't want me to get raped in the night, or something...

Concerned is one thing. Overprotective is quite another.
Like I said, their house, their rules, and I'm not suggesting you disobey them. It just saddens me that the media's image of the Internet as a bunch of preverts and stalkers actually manages to sink into some feeble brains.
-
Agreed, but what are you gonna do?
Anyway, hopefully we can figure out a way to get this clip made.
