It almost seems like Bob Staub and I are alternating GSC's :)
Not to be confused, of course, with Game Show Congress, but this is the *ORIGINAL* GSC.
This year, I'm declaring the GSC to be at my place; date will be Thursday, June 9 through Sunday, June 12.
The theme will be a 30th anniversary tribute to what I consider the best year for game shows: 1975. Games to be determined later...
Any questions, feel free to email me at gsc2005@comcast.net - as well, I will be putting up a webpage soon with hotel #'s - there are a good bit of hotels within 2 miles of the GSC site.

Too soon to tell right now if I'll be able to make it this year. I would love to go three-in-a-row. We'll see.

Well, I hope you do. :)

Alas Aaron although it is a tempting proposition that is smack in the middle of my school's exam week and my sister's university graduation. Have fun though!

Never did. Couldn't get enough people together. I'm glad not everyone has that problem.

I'll be there... if I can borrow your couch. :-)

Hmmmmm...
New Cumberland is soooooo close, too.

I'm also 50:50, as it depends on my finances and if I'm going to GSCongress 4. I need to take a respite from school this summer.

EL BUMPO!
Just kidding folks....I can't stand it when people do that...
I'm doing mine for a good reason, though - date change.
The date will now be one week later - from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
A detailed FAQ online will go up later in the week.

I know it will upset you to hear this, but you'll be missing my presence at the GSC, as work will call on Father's Day weekend, as it's the beginning of the permanent Summer season on the Jersey Shore.

So Zach really does know the meaning of sarcasm? Well I'll be damned.

I think I may try and make it this year. I was going to go last year but had major car problems a month before and had to buy a new one resulting in no money.

Mark, it would be a pleasure to have you!
Incidentally, I should add that for those of you who came to my '97 or '03 GSC's (or both), if you took some kind of public transportation to get to it, the drive to the train station/airport/bus station is not as far.
I am not even 15 minutes away now from same train station/bus station, and also not even 1/2 hour from same airport.
Living in civilization does have its benefits, including NTN, which I want to do and we can walk to.

With that date change, my odds of attending have increased 60-40 in favor of me attending! The reason is I might still have some schooling left in the original date. School is out by the new date, but it usually takes weeks for my brain to recover!
I hope you can make it too, Mark! We could use more Iowans at these all-Pennsylvanian GSC's! : )

I'm there, making it 4 in a row for me...will bring my FtM tape, as per Aaron's request, some other rarities, and a copy of the little-known Peanuts special "Now Look Here, Charlie Brown!" :-D

Early rumours from the Forum's Lehigh Valley PA office indicate the CD-i version of Joker's Wild, and possibly Name That Tune, will make a special appearance this year.

I know I asked this to Chuck earlier, but I'll throw this one out to everybody:
If were to attend this years GSC, should I bring my Benirschke Bars? :)

Although I haven't even really considered attending a GSC in years for various reason, I've decided to do whatever I can to make it possible to be there for this one. When I consider the combination of it being hosted by Aaron Sica and that it will be a GSC4 flashback (the GSC in which I first met my new a.t.g-s game show family and the game shows of 1975 essentially kicked my ass), it just feels like I need to be there.
If the powers that be allow me to be there AND I somehow free all my belongings from their captors by then (hell, it's been 14 months already...when will NIGHTLINE start my nightly hostage ordeal coverage?), I'll likely bring my ENTIRE game show theme music collection and some of my favorite memorabilia rarities. Hmmmmm...in fact, maybe I can dig out a few things that I can part with to provide as GSC prizes!
Actually, though there are other obstacles that I'll have to overcome to get there, the largest source of hesitation I have is knowing that Randy Amasia won't be there. He and I first met there and our already-close friendship grew into an extremely strong bond that I still treasure to this day. No matter how much fun this GSC might be, it still won't be there same.
Hey Aaron, maybe I'll arrive a day early or stay a day late...if so, I'll rent a little silver convertible, load up the CD player with your choice of themes and we'll make a run out for some fast food in tribute to Randy and our GSC4 experience! What'cha think? :)
Oh, and yes, I now see that the dates have been changed to Thursday, June 16 through Sunday, June 19. Excellent...gives me an extra week to work out my bank robbery plans needed to fund the trip...hehehehe

Jake, to say you are more than welcome would be an understatement.
That is one of my best memories of GSC4 - not the gameplay, but driving around in the silver convertible with game show tunes just BLASTING from it.....You, me, and Daniel.
I will have to contact Daniel now and see if he wants to come. We could have dueling JoAnne Worleys!!!!
I have officially now gone from anticipation to major excitement for this, Jake or no Jake. :)

Jake, I hope to see you there as well...we've never met offline, despite a friendship going back almost 10 yrs, and a GSC appearance by you would def be a welcome event. :-) I'm sure all of us are hoping it works out for you...those who've never met you deserve a chance to hear from "St. JoAnne"! Hi All,
I doing my best to make it to this GSC too. I am originally from Pittsburgh and kind of plan to go there in June to see the family. Of course a side trip would be great! The only thing I can't remember is where in the heck is New Cumberland?
Thanks,
Don

The way it's looking, Aaron might need to rent an actual convention hall to accommodate all the attendants!

I may go, I'm not sure though. Depends on motel rates and stuff. I can drive from here to PA with no troubles.

What exactly is avaiable for lodging in the immediate area? I prefer to stay at Marriott or Holiday Inn brand properties...could you provide a brief list?

I'm working on it, Mark, and tomorrow I'll have a webpage for you to go to, which will have a list of hotels and #'s.
I did check just now (and this will go on the page), there is a Holiday Inn just about 1 mile away from my place.

For Mark (and anyone else interested, of course!) A skeleton FAQ, with Hotels and #'s.

I've heard a lot about various GSCs throughout the years, but I never really knew exactly what they were. Is it just an excuse for a bunch of people to show up at some guy's house to meet up and play and talk about game shows? Is it exclusively for the older, more knowledgeable, more high-ranking and well-known group members, or have younger, less-known lurkers like myself just shown up? Just wondering...

It's c) all of the above.
It's an excuse for people to meet and play and talk about game shows, there's older members that show up, and young ones who lurk and just show up....
There's folks I didn't know very well at all who have been to the last two (mine, and then Bob Staub's and Andrew's), who came.

Some changes with the games..
The theme will still be 1975, but instead of playing "Big Showdown", I may substitute a version of "Pyramid" in there (and isolate the 1975 theme to the first two games).
Reason being is that I have downloaded ParticleMan's Pyramid presentation software and to say I'm impressed with it would be an understatement. I think it's got real possibilities for something to be played at our GSC. I don't mind keying in the categories but if someone has mad skillz with programming, maybe they'll figure out a way to make an interface.

It was quite fun - we mainly watched videos (there's a great showcase blooper from Price from '82 that I hope will get converted to computer!), and of our home games, we played Password '75 and Joker's Wild. Didn't get to play Gambit, unfortunately (we watched a video of the show and I changed my mind), so we watched more videos instead. Lots of eating out too, and silliness abounded, with jokes and exchanges that would be *WAY* un-PC to post in the forum, although this one's pretty mild...There was a guy on Joker's Wild who could do famous voices of celebrity people...
Me: I wonder if he can do Jack Barry?
Dave Roman: No, he said he does *famous* people.
.....We had one attendee who does a dead-on impression of Cross-Eyed Beverlie Peters from PYL that we found funny.....Games that blind people couldn't play well on....Celebrity Dig 'Em.......And after talking about "How do you like your eggs", making up game shows like "How do you like your _____?" (fill in the blank here...these are what I had mentioned as the un-PC...insert game show host's way of meeting his maker, then hosted by that guy).
Matter of fact, the group of us (Chuck Donegan, Dave Roman, Bob Staub, Andrew Kudey, William Smith, Rick Byrne) had so much fun that I've already decided the next one will be the middle weekend in October.
-
Hey guys... glad you had fun - I'm curious though, what weekend will you be having it on? If it's on Canadian thanksgiving, I'd love to get down for it.
Cheers,
Ryan.
