Title: "Lockout" Buzzer Systems

Hello all,

I started lurking on a.tv.gs just a few months before the trolls took over for good.  I've lurked at the EZ Board as well as here from time to time, though the format doesn't make doing so as easy as it was on USENET (I know, I know, it's a small trade off for a much-improved signal to noise ratio).

Anyways, I hope I'm not violating any protocol or TOS, as I know you folks are very strict (if so, my faux pas is unintentional, apologies in advance), but I'd like to know if anyone has any good leads on buzzer systems that could be used for a DIY customized game show presentation.  Unfortunately, the game will be played on the 19th, so I don't even know if I have enough time to purchase/receive or borrow such an item.

I used to own a Quizzard with my old Sale of the Century home game, but alas, I can't find it (nor do I know if it would be functional if I did manage to dig it up).  Do you know of any other board games (aside from Quizzard itself) that utilized a similar system?

The only other thing I could find online was information on college bowl buzzer systems, which started around $150 and ran the gamut on upwards.  I'm looking to spend considerably less (I couldn't justify much more than $20).

If anyone living in the southern New England area happens to have one that they're not willing to part with, I'd be willing to rent it from you...desperate times call for desperate measures.  Thanks for any help any of you can offer.  I encourage responses via email at jpytkausanet@yahoo.com as I don't know how often I'll be able to check in here.  Thanks again.

P.S.: For those who like more details than you're probably interested in, this request comes about because I'm heavily involved with a club for roller coaster enthusiasts (I don't know if Chris Lambert hangs around these parts, but I recall his name from both the game show newsgroup and rec.roller-coaster).  For the past several years at our regional gatherings, I've organized and hosted game show adaptations focusing on coaster-related topics.  Last year, I adapted Lingo, the year before Match Game, and three years ago Weakest Link.  This year, I'm putting together a roller coaster version of Jeopardy!  My colleague is in the process of building a game board that I suspect will look a lot like a miniature version of the Pardo-era game board by the time he's through!  Just hope he finishes in time....  I digress.  Thanks for reading.

I don't see why. It's a reasonable question. He's just not gonna like the answer to it very much, that's all. :)

After I posted, I found that info in the archives (and BTW, unless my lame dialup connection is acting up again, two of those four links are broken).  I did print out the schematic from one of those sites and the same colleague I referenced in my original post offered to try to build one.  Now we just need to beat the clock (bad pun not intended).  Thanks.
