Sweet Jesus! Hope saying that on Ash Wednesday doesn't get me excommunicated.
Can All-Star Tiddlywinks and Extreme Voice Of The Mummy be far behind?

I dunno....that Hollywood Connect Four is becoming more and more real every day.
-
Not to mention, it probably won't be too long before we hear about a pilot for "All-Star Go Fish".

Celebrity Bingo. Coolio and 24 other great stars. Live from Burbank Moose Lodge #652. Now there's a paint-dryer...
-
Or even the Scrabble Masters Tournament...oh wait, it was aired once before on ESPN.
Jonathan Allen, hoping "UNO Card Sharks" doesn't go forward

The moose lodge joke is enough to make this a Line Of The Day. Whether it's a diagonal, vertical, or horizontal line is up to you.
I'm waiting for The $50,000 Sleeper myself. The host is everyone's favorite sleeper, Paris Hilton. The more articles of clothing removed, the less money you get. Anyone smart enough to take off the blindfold first wins the $50,000.
This game requires common sense, so recruiting will start at the Wheel Of Fortune contestant offices.

Ah, come on... it's not as bad as all that! 9-Ball is an established feature on ESPN (well, ESPN2, mostly) -- where are the posters yelling "Wait until it actually airs!"?

All this does is show the sad state of ESPN.

Granted, ESPN hasn't been quite the same the last few years. But, billiards has always been at the very least a timekiller -- either on ESPN or ESPN2.
I can remember watching part of a billiards tourney in the late '80s.

ESPN2 does do several hours of coverage of the National Spelling Bee on day two of the finals in late May/early June. I give them credit for airing something like that.

What about "Celebrity Dominoes". No wait....that's already been tried on Canadian television!

I can't understand what is going on with ESPN having pool, chess, checkers, Scrabble and spelling bees. They're a sports network! That's one of the main problems I've got with that (SPELLING IS NOT A SPORT!). Stick to sports (though keep the World Series of Poker).
I can't honestly see why someone would make a show out of billiards, but the truth is, it is GSN after all, and look at what they've become over the span of a year and change.
Such is life...next thing you know, they'll have Championship Magic: The Gathering, followed by Extreme D&D and Celebrity Risk.

Anyone wanna place a small bet on Celebrity Twister coming soon? :-P j/k

S'true. They even used to send Berman out to do the play-by-play, although that may have changed in recent years.

Except, as usual, Zach completely misses the fact that it's usually presented as a parody of their regular sports coverage, complete with graphics for each kid, etc.

Wait, you whine and complain about them airing pool, but you like poker, so that's okay. Your argument is completely hypocritical. At least pool requires some modicum of dexterity.
I can't honestly see why someone would make a show out of billiards
The same reason someone made a show out of bowling. A LOT of people do it. They can relate. You see someone playing pool, and you watch, and you go "damn, I could have made that shot."
next thing you know, they'll have Championship Magic: The Gathering,
ESPN's way ahead of you. The Deuce carries the finals of the World Championships every year.

A lot of ESPN's inventory are time buys, with the provision that they use ESPN graphics to make it look like it was done by ESPN. That's how poker started out -- billiards, Scrabble, mini-golf and Magic are still that way. Sports fans that complain "how come I don't see X on ESPN" is because ESPN wanted $$$, not the other way around. Even a lot of the college basketball is barter -- you can have our conference championship if you show a certain amount of our regular season.
When I worked for an unnamed centrally located collegiate hockey conference in the early 90s, we had two offers for TV coverage, one was to pay ESPN $25,000 a game to put it on their network on tape-delay, the other was to receive $500 per game for each region of SportsChannel (now FoxSportsNet) with at least a decent possibility of a live clearance. We went with B.
And, there was Celebrity Billiards in the mid 60s. We're not talking new ideas here.

Has it really? If enough people really watch celebrity competition shows mainly to see famous people hanging out together and acting up, I can see Celebrity Dominos actually making for good television once you get past the apparent silliness of the name.
I mean, come on, seeing Dave Chapelle slap down a bone and yell "DOMINO, MUTHAF***A!" has to be good for some laughs :)
Just like with any reality television, it's prolly all about the casting :-p
-
While we're at this...where's "Celebrity Table Tennis" (in which the opening clip of it was shown on the CBS Television City 50th anniversary special in 2002)?
Jonathan Allen

Hell, while we're all talking about celebrity games.........when is Celebrity War (the card game, not weapons and such) comin'?
*ducks from killfile (or whatever the hell ya'll call it) with no success*
