Title: The Henry Mancini Stamp
Post by: Don Howard on February 08, 2005, 03:39:57 PM
I plunked down 740 hard-earned pennies on this morning for the purchase of 20 stick 'em Henry Mancini stamps. On the stamp, Mr. Mancini is pictured with baton in hand along with a listing of the popular screen sensations he scored which include The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany's and even Charade. Where was Tic Tac Dough? Shame, scandal, outrage!!!

How does a composer who did classic scores for movies end up doing sitcoms (What's Happening!!) and game shows (Tic Tac Dough 90)?

Consider yourself lucky that TTD wasn't even listed.

Not to mention the "Viewer Mail" theme that David Letterman used for awhile in the late 1980s (OK, technically Paul and the band used it, but you get the drift.)

But WH's theme song was good!

He also did the election theme for NBC, as well as a short-lived theme for the Nightly News in the 70s.  The man just liked to work. Luckily, he was good at it.
