I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I came across an auction for the "original" green TPiR contestant seat covers:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4071440881&rd=1 (http://\"http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18839&item=4071440881&rd=1\")
I would love to have them but it's up to $102+ now with reserve not met.
These sure would look good framed in my basement, but I don't make the big bucks. Pretty cool nonetheless.
-
It has been mentioned.
Since the TPIR promo slide eventually went for a lot more than this, wonder what the final price will be?
The fact that it's a reserve price tells me (and I could be way off here), they are not willing to part with it that easily.
-
It won't go for much. Most of the guys that would want it don't have furniture and those that do have wives.

LOVE that sig. Reminds me of my youth, getting the TV guide and IMMEDIATELY flipping to Friday listings to see if anything was about to change in daytime! :)

I love it, too, and I'm angry at myself for not thinking of it first!! :)
I, too, used to flip immediately to the Friday listings for the same reason.

Thanks for the props on the sig. I did the same thing as you guys and thought I would pay tribute.

We don't see it anymore, that's for certain. No more calls please, we have a winner for...

No chance of it, considering they've condensed the daytime listings down to only a few pages with "Various Programs" if things differ. But this is not the place for a TV Guide rant, so I will refrain.
I do, however, have your back on the "Line of the Day". For sure!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the 'original' 1972 seat covers *other* than the green ones offered on E-Bay? IIRC, they were either blue or orange with one of the TPIR words on each of them.
-
I remember blue covers with the words on green.

Both....originals were used from about 72-76; the blue was used from about 76-83. No, Zach; don't correct me if I'm off by a year.

You are correct. They might be authentic, they might even be old, but they are not original.
-
Right now at $240.39 and still not enough to meet the reserve.
-
A last-second bid by "goldenrd" shot the total to $449.44, which was still short of the reserve. Seems an awful lot to expect to get for some cloth.

Is that the MSRP?
-
If the reserve was $450 or $500, I'd go to a PiR taping.
Oh wait, I'm only 16.
-
I think they've all overbid. Erase the bids please, and bidders, please go lower than $449.44.

Is that so?
Well, in actually it didn't go for anything.
-
Sidebar: I was at a taping week before last (for a show that'll air 2/23), sitting right behind Contestants Row (where does the apostrophe go, there?). The type on the current seat covers is pretty damn worn. I'm surprised that it looks at all decent on TV.
-
Well the host looks pretty damned worn too...
-
Might not be line of the day, but a damn good zinger. I'll call that Honorable Mention. ;-)

<Insert TPIR Losing Horns Here>
A shame it wasn't won. Had a bidder come within $2.50 of the reserve price without going over they would have won BOTH e-Bay showcases: The Seat Covers, *and* a leftover Flokati Rug from an old Press Your Luck episode.

What!?!?! There should have been a $10k anique fishbowl for a roll of 11 or bid starting at $15.
