Title: Sad has just reached a new level
Post by: itiparanoid13 on January 15, 2005, 05:13:39 PM
I'm not kidding.  According to Reuters, who got it from Hollywood Reporter, True Entertainment and Brighter Pictures and co-producing a new TV reality show that

Quote
would pit a group of male contestants against each other for the honor of serving as a sperm donor to a woman willing to be impregnated.

And of course we have a twist!  The woman who apparently is so sad as to do this show gets to choose between the final two.  I have never been so flustered about reading a reality show premise before until this.  This definitely has pushed the boundaries way too far.  I'll post the link to the Reuters press release in a few if I am allowed.

How dare you use the name "Soap" in such a context? What would Rod Roddy say? ;-)

Hell, I usually do that for free. :)

The winner, however (to steal a line from Friends), will be making money hand over fist.

Some men will compete for the honor of being picked, some for the charity of helping a woman who wants to conceive.  Whoever it is, he'll be coming into a lot of money.

Oh barf me with a pitchfork.  I'm sorry, but THIS is why I have to think most reality TV is rigged -- and, moreover, why game shows are dying.

People don't watch games to watch games.  They watch TV to see people get humiliated.

My first question was "Is she gonna be hot?" And if that is yes, "Do we have to use a test tube? Can't it be the real deal?"

I mean seriously.. If you're going to impregnate someone, might as well be able to enjoy it!

Secondly, is this poor sap that has to jerk off in a test tube also responsible for child support?

And here's my final question... Do the losers end up in "The Loser's Circle (Jerk)"?

Personally, I would prefer the money making this show spent on making an real-life version of "Tiny House".

I think TINY HOUSE would be a wonderful ratings hit reality show!  Speaking as one in the automobile industry, the TINY HOUSE commercial still to this day is talked about amongst co-workers, and they dont even watch reality programming.

While I certainly agree with Chris's "Wow", I will tell a quick story about "Tiny House."

I was watching TV with my friend, who is a reality tv fanatic. He saw the ad for Tiny House, and halfway through started talking about how he liked the idea and wanted to watch it. Once he found out it was a Geico commercial, he started cussing out the television set so loudly, you could hear it all the way upstairs.

From then on, I've always said that at last there is one good thing to be said about some commercials these days. :-)

Oh, please--just somebody reassure me that that segment of the show won't be played head-to-head.

And can somebody throw down the rope ladder so we can all start climbing out of this gutter?
