Surprised no one's mentioned this here---TPIR, Feud, Password, BtC, MG, Card Sharks, PYL... Coming to your TV starting in 2006.

How in the world do they expect to do Beat the Clock??
-
The only stunt I could see that could be performed with THAT setup is the always-classic "Shove the Controller Up Your Ass".

I remember that one. Yes, that was a Super Bonus stunt that made it to around $50000 before it was knocked off. Exciting.

Reading that press release made me wonder if JAKKS worked a licensing agreement with FreeMantleMeadia North America on TPIR & other games, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony might do the same for WOF & J! if this thing sells well down the road.

There were computer and NES versions of both Double Dare and Fun House. Beat the Clock might be utter crap but it can be done.

I noticed from the press release that these are "single controller"-type games that only require connection to the A/V jacks on the back of a TV set -- no cartridges or game consoles required. Since at least one video game of this type (Ms. Pac-Man) is already on the "hard-to-get-Christmas-toy-list" for 2004, this item could sell well if it's any good.
However, it won't play on the 13-inch Gold Star TV set that's currently in my brother's bedroom -- it's a very old model with no A/V jacks in the back. So, while I'm getting that new video card for my own PC this weekend…

(…I'll have to make a stop at Wal-Mart as well and see what I can get for a song:
"How much is that Sanyo in the window?
That 20-inch color TV?
With the audio & video jacks up front
For that player for my brother's DVD's?"
He got it for Christmas couple years ago
But he's since cried a million tears
His old TV doesn't have the hookup jacks
Not in the front or even in the rear.
(repeat 1st verse)
So we gotta get for him a new set
So he can finally see his DVD's
And play all these forthcoming new games
Like Price is Right and lots of others on TV

I have a 6-year-old 19" Philips/Magnavox TV with no A/V jacks. If you have a VCR or DVD player hooked up to a TV with just a coaxial cable input, you can use the TV Games. I have the World Poker Tour TV Game hooked up to my 2nd VCR. The graphics aren't spectacular, 8-bit NES quality, but the AI is very good.

You could also go to your local electronics store (Radio Shack or Wal-Mart) and get a $30 RF converter. It will have a set of A/V jacks that will be converted and sent into your TV through the coax on channel 3/4. They even have a coax passthrough. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...%5Fid=15%2D1214 (http://\"http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F003%5F010%5F009%5F000&product%5Fid=15%2D1214\")
This is what I have installed on my son's TV (1994 Zenith 19") so he could have a DVD player.
Hope this helps!

JAKKS and Fremantle put the deal together some time ago, and they've been developing the games over the past few months. I'm told they will be cool. And yes, I would expect SONY to follow suit with their properties.
Licensing for slot machines has turned into a multi-milion dollar success. While there is a common belief that some of the classic formats wouldn't work on TV today, there can be no disputing that the public's familiarity with well known games can be turned into coin.

Sounds cool. I love the the old Namco and Atari ones, I bet these will be just as good! I just wish we didn't have to wail 'till 2006.

If you already have an Xbox and Xbox Live, you can order Xbox Live Arcade (http://\"http://www.xbox.com/en-US/livearcade\") with Ms. Pac-Man on it. Mine came within a week.

Though adapters are available where Tv Games (and other A/V Jacks only appliances, such as DVD players) can be used by plugging it into the adapter, plugging the adapter into your antenna input, and dialling a certain channel.

Maybe it's just me, but I would think that after the failure of the Osmond Pyramid, Sony might instead do that game in the likeness of the classic Dick Clark Pyramids. Of course, if "Particleman"'s upcoming $100,000 Pyramid software is at least as good as his Family Feud software, the Sony game would only be good for game material.
