Title: Game show hosts & contestants, oh my!
Post by: cmjb13 on November 16, 2004, 07:38:05 PM
Just got back from a taping of Millionaire.

I can now understand why people take the test more than once...

Found out on the way that Paul Reubens was appearing at FYE. Unfortunately, it was during the line-up time.

There was a former J! champion from 1998 who passed the test.

Dan Avila was in the audience and it was mentioned he will appear as a contestant for airing on 4/13.

EDIT: Since I don't know which show of the 2nd taping he did, it's possible, the show may air on 4/14.

I hear that the test got quite a bit harder this season. I take it you believe that, as well...

And if he has the same luck as he did in his apperances on Greed, I smell another $0 win in the offing...LOL

I was thinking more along the lines of the "minor chord of doom"...

Dan Avila....professional game show contestant.  How many shows does this make it?

Google search yields: TJW74, BtB76, Greed(2 appearances), Millionaire, J!(Trebek), PBS Nova quiz(early 90s). That would be six. There may be at least one more

But has Dan made any money yet?

He might have won something on Joker's and/or BtB and/or J!, even if he won only merchandise prizes for the runner-up position on J!

I was in the audience for Dan's show.  He taped on Monday.  It will air in April as mentioned previously.  Of course, I cannot give away any results.

Dan was also on Sale of the Century, where he won $600 in women's shoes (he mentioned this to Meredith).  He was a one day champ on J!.

He won one game on BtB '76 (which I think GSN aired during the Dark Period) ...didn't break the bank, though.

And if, as Steve jokingly suggested, Dan actually missed the $500K question, it'd mark the first time the "minor chord of doom" was heard on American shores (save for the time Joan Lunden tried her hand at a $1M question on a segment of Behind Closed Doors in 01).
