In the Harry Friedman era on the syndicated version. But did the NBC Daytime WOF participate in Trick or Treat week some of the other NBC game shows of the time did on Halloween week 1988?

I know it started during the nighttime run, but I meant what year it started.

1996 or 1997.

FWIW, I'm disappointed by Wheel's cheesy set this year. What, no room for the massive set they usually use?
-
And what about the lightning and thunder, or the evil laugh/scream, when a player chooses a card out of the mini-wheel?
Is that gone?

For the most part, yes. However, I did notice on last night's show that a guy named Patrick landed on Bankrupt & I swear I thought I heard an evil-type laugh or maybe it was a subtle shriek.

OOOK. I don't know if that scream is really appropriate for a Bankrupt.

They did indeed...the set was decorated w/pumpkins, etc, and MG Kelly did the closing "The prices of the prizes..." tagline in a Dracula-type voice.

Wheel stopped using the massive Halloween set a couple years back. They now use the set with the 2 houses. They tape Halloween week the day before they tape Christmas week. If you watch at Christmas, the set is identical, except for different decorations.
I believe 2002 season they began using this set, which premiered as "Garage Sale" week as the last week of the 2000-01 season.

Agreed. I might have gone with some quick music cue akin to the "shower scene" from Psycho.
