according to a press release from:  http://streetsmartstv.warnerbros.com/street/tournament.html (http://\"http://streetsmartstv.warnerbros.com/street/tournament.html\"), for the $100k tournament they will be taking the top 32 scorers.

Hmmm.  A 32-player tournament?  That's gotta be a record for most contestants competing in a tournament.  I'm sure it's single-elimination so, this'll surely occupy most if not all of the May sweep period I think.

The "Super Jeopardy!" tournament had 36 players compete.

But, how many people competed on "$40K Chain Reaction" ?

No, you dingbat!  It's 144, which is the number of contestants for the 1991 "$40,000 Chain Reaction" tournament.

You really need to step away from the computer and open your mind up a lot more.

D00d, YOU need to step away and chill. Nobody short of Horan knew that number, and for you to be calling someone a "dingbat" over it is out of line.

(and when I'M telling you calling Karlberg a dingbat is out of line, that's saying something....)

Shuffield was mistaken too: That season of USA CR had 128 contestants(they had eight contestants in a single-elimination tourney for 16 cycles). The final 18 shows of the season had those 16 tourney winners come back for a single-elimination grandmaster tournament(double-elimination when the field was reduced to four) for the $40K top prize.

Thanks much for exemplifying the point that your head is filled with useless knowledge.

Zach's right in this case.  I'm as bad as the President in figuring math.

That said, I still think Karlberg is still a bit nuts.

Jesus, Zach. Go outside. Once. We're begging you. It can't be healthy staying locked up in one room all of your life.

Could Ultra Quiz be considered a tournament of sorts?  If so, there were more than 128, 144, or however many people took part in The $40,000 Chain Reaction.

Started with a boatload of players, was reduced down to one over the course of several rounds, that constitutes a tournament to me.

(Of course, by that same definition, so's an isolated episode of Weakest Link. Or even Singled Out. So clearly it's not a good definition.)

OK, so I lowballed aa far as the tournament record goes, but that doesn't mean I'm a "dingbat" for it.  Sure I might be off sometimes, but even I know when I made a mistake once in awhile.

As I said before, this $100K tourney will take up the May sweep period.  Whoever wins it will DEFINITELY set the show record for most cash won on that show.

This one, I can get behind.
