Title: Premiere Dates?
Post by: mathwhiz on August 29, 2004, 05:04:23 PM
Is there is listing somewhere of the syndicated game shows for the fall and their premiere dates?  I'm getting ready to plan out my fall TV viewing and would like this info so I can plan accordingly.

Thanks!

Rich

I'll get you started.
Wheel Of Fortune, with its 1.5 million colors of light!!!!! starts syndicated season twenty-two on September 6.
Likewise, JENNINGS!: The All-New Jeopardy! begins airing new shows on Sep 6.
Family Feud begins its third year under Richard Karn's tenure (two more than psychic Louie Anderson estimated it would run) on September 13.
Consult your local listings for time and channel.

9/13:
Family Feud-Season 5 or 6(I think it's 6)
Syndie WWTBAM?-Season 3 with the new Question Swap lifeline & AOL's sponsorship of Ask The Audience & incorporating its AIM feature

9/20:
The Price Is Right-Season 33

9/27:

Yes, folks, you read it right - the name of the show has been changed. Now, right after contestants spin the wheel, they will jump on top as it's spinning - how fun!!

WHEE!!!!!!!!!! of Fortune. :)

Hopefully, we'll get some kind of word in New York as to where Feud will be this season.  FOX tends to confuse us with bouncing the show back and forth between stations every year.

I think it is, and everyone (including Da Perf) keeps saying that he'll be back next Monday.

Not going to waste my time correcting Perf - why would I? All he'd do is make the correction and never acknowledge he was wrong.

Alex said towards the end of season 20, that the new season would start with a back to school kids week, but we'll have to wait and see if that is indeed the case.

The show's own promos were saying that as well.  My local station is shifting J! to its sister station on that date (so we wouldn't miss it due to Jerry Lewis).  I don't think they'd care as much if it weren't KJ's return.

I also heard the Kids' Week remarks, but I think it's being delayed until KJ is out.  It wouldn't make much to extend the wait another week for Kids' Week when you've got a well known champion making a zillion bucks ready to roar back after summer reruns.

Makes perfect sense. Why whizz away an almost guaranteed 10 rating? I hate those %&$# Kids' Weeks anyway.

Whatever it is, Sony's keeping quiet--the web site's promoting the Power Players week rerun this week, the Brain Bus and "Clue Crew Adventures."  I can imagine that a "He's Back" promo has already been fed to the stations.

Well, they were originally intended as "Back to School" weeks, meaning within the first couple of weeks of September. (This year's was taped not too long ago.) That said, I don't believe they've released word on when it'll air.

Besides, last season didn't air the back to school episodes until a few weeks into the season. I would assume that wouldn't change this season.

TV GUIDE is also trumpeting it in next week's edition as being Ken's return.  BTW, while I don't mind being spoiled (hell, that's pretty much how I watched what little I did of the Olympics), some people on this board from the Chicago area *might* be since WLS-TV is running J! at 11:05PM Labor Day night (ABC Sports is doing a golf tournament that day, and J! normally airs here at 3:30 CT).

Just some food for thought (like one or two people here are going to take heed anyway :-) ).

Thanks for the heads up, Doug--but wouldn't be 1:05 a.m., after Kimmel?  WLS can't touch that Oprah rerun, you know.

Actually, Mark, per Titantv.com (and next week's TV GUIDE), they're running it before NIGHTLINE.  ABC also has the Florida State/Miami-Fla. football game Monday night, so WLS is planning to run J! after the news (whenever it winds up being) and delay NIGHTLINE, the OPRAH reair and KIMMEL.

I can't hyperlink the show information box from here, but it's accessible from here (http://\"http://wls.titantv.com\").

Now that they're conference rivals, ABC wanted to move up the game to give the ACC a national "showcase" game (in the recent past they've played the first or second week in October).

ObGameshows:  A certain show (of which I attended a taping in June) is noted for its showcases.

This just in--the Florida State/Miami game has been rescheduled for Friday, September 10 (due to concerns regarding Hurricane Frances).  So I guess this means WLS will air J! at 10:35PM Monday rather than 11:05 (it's still being bumped from its 3:30 CT slot Monday because of ABC's coverage of the Deutsche Bank U.S. Golf Championship).

Well, the college football game scheduled for Monday has been postponed, so we know that the ABC stations will air J! and Wheel on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week from 7-8 pm.

Also I get J! and Wheel on KSBW at the same time, if their reception is good.

Unless the following happens:

Steve Beverly doesn't do a Wheel update by 5 pm PT.

The over-the-air reception on KSBW is very weak.

ABC Saturday late college football games (4 pm PT kickoff) preempt Wheel if the game goes into overtime.

And by the fall season:

The presidential debates that will preempt Wheel on the west coast, and the election coverage November 2.

You know, just a word of advice, pestering people for recaps is not the best way to make friends around here. (That's not to say I've been a saint either, but I digress). Besides, you shouldn't need to. Most of the time the recaps are here pretty quickly anyhow. If not, just wait patiently. If for some reason, you are unable to see the recaps, then that's just the way it's gonna be. You miss a show or recap, it's not the end of the world. Lord knows we've all missed many. The sooner you realize and understand that the better.

Steve doesn't normally do his updates until the day after, at least for Wheel.

The Saturday Wheel episodes are reruns from the previous season.

The presidential election is more important than a game show, much as some think Bush and/or Kerry are chuckleheads.

Ask someone in e-mail for the update rather than do it here, then you're less likely to get flamed, Tmq. Someone will do J! updates most days, at least while Ken is still there(I do them some days at or around 7:30 after J! airs in Philly)

Well, since MNF pushes J! and Wheel back one day in SF, they air Friday's episode on Saturday.  But I checked KGO's schedule, and they have a late college football game 9/18, starting at 4 PT.  It may preempt Wheel, since KGO may air J! at 7:30 if Ken Jennings continues his winning streak.
