Post by: adamjk on August 06, 2004, 03:32:24 PM
When syndie Combs Feud went to Opryland to kick off their 6th, and as it turned out, Ray's last season with the show, during the main game what sound was heard when an answer was revealed? Was it the usual "bing", or something else?

You don't have to make fun of me, I was just wondering. If you don't have anything good to say, or don't have an answer for me, don't say anything.

OK, fine...it was the same "CLANG" noise that was used for every episode since 1976.

Elvis wouldn't be in Nashville--he would be in Memphis, thankyouverymuch.  Don't confuse my hometown for some rinky-dink country town.

Now a disembodied Minnie Pearl saying "howdy" would be pretty damn cool.

You know, CBSJokerswildfan is right. You guys had your fun, now drop the subject please. Before I do, let me ask one thing, what is so bad about being curious about these sort of things? I mean, sure I may be the only one who cares about this, but that doesn't give you guys the right to make fun of me over it.

It's very simple:

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

Complain about getting a stupid answer after asking a stupid question, be prepared to be called on the carpet for being stupid.

Explain to me how this question was stupid. I don't find it so. How was I supposed to know they sound to reveal answers when they took the show on the road? For all I knew, maybe they changed it.

Ummm........Adam,  they have been using the same sound effects on FF since day 1. Why in the world would you think they would change the sound effect for a trip to Nashville? And most importantly, why would you dedicate bandwidth space to ask this question, say "Oh, I didn't really need to know" when it's answered, and then complain about being criticized when you know your track record is less than admirable? It's called "thinking before you post", some are better at it than others.

I don't know, I just thought for some reason since they weren't using the real board, that maybe they would use a different sound effect.

Here's an idea. The next time you have a silly question to ask that you "don't really need to know", don't ask it here.

Ask your bowling partner, since he's pretty smart when it comes to the feud. Or, email a game show buddy and ask him, assuming you have one who will respond.

Ask interesting questions, and you'll get interesting answers. I promise you. However,  If you're asking silly questions (And, you do. Often), then be prepared to get razzed here.

Adam, we're equal opportunity folks here. We'll equally praise you for insightful comments, and we'll equally knock down the silly ones.

Now, what category do you think asking "what color the Lose a Turn space was" goes in?
Explain to me how this question was stupid. I don't find it so.
This is why the question was stupid: When you ask it, what you say is this:

"I think there is a reason they might change the bell sound to something else."

And there is NO REASON TO THINK THAT. Name for me one game show, JUST ONE, where the situation you describe has happened. Just give me PRECEDENT.

(The CLOSEST such incident that I can think of in 30 years of watching game shows would be the week of Dawson Feud when the descendants of the Hatfields and the McCoys were on, and the face-off buzzer was replaced with a shotgun sound. But even THEN they used the bog-standard bell for answer reveals, and I'll double the Malcolm Jackpot if you knew about that before this moment anyhow, or else you would have used it to defend your position.)

Once again, nobody is telling you you're not allowed to ask a stupid question. So long as you're on topic, you post whatever you like. But you should expect to be told when it's stupid. And this was stupid. Now learn from it, and perhaps next time you WON'T post something stupid, and you'll get the answer you want.

Yes, that was a one time thing, I believe. The special week with the Hatfields and McCoys featured that particular effect at the face-off podium when someone buzzed in.

Adam, let me show how silly you look with all your bizarre questions:

(Note: The following is satire. Please do not actually answer the following questions)

Yo, guyz ! Can u answer my qs:

What was ther color of Rolf Benirschke's tie on his 7th episode ?

Did the sound of the puzzleboard *ding* change when Rolf Benirschke became host ?

How many times did Rolf Benirschke makes refrences to Pat Sajak or Chuck Woolery ?

My basketball buddy told me that Vanna White and Charlie O'Donnel were in a sexual relationship and Rolf Benirschke had bipolar. Is this true ?

What were the details of Rolf Benirschke's NBC contract ?

What was the font of the scoreboard under the contesants, did it change when Rolf Benirschke became host ?

Did the Red, Yellow, Blue backdrops change their shades when Rolf Benirschke became host ?

What were the length of Rolf Benirschke's eyebrows ?

And:
Was "Rolf Benirschke" ever a puzzle on "Classic Concentraiton" or "Super Password" ?

When Rolf became host, did the puzzleboard changs sound effects? No. It didn't, they continued to use the classic chimes(they changed the Bankrupt and Puzzleboard sounds when they went to Studio 33, CBS TV City).

As always just like everybody else, Rolf's version also uses an eggcrate display.

When Rolf hosted the show, Red, Yellow and Blue stuck with sunbursts(they changed the shades also when they went to Studio 33, CBS TV City).

Someone had mentioned a waste of Bandwidth. This whole thread has become one. The original poster asked a simple question which could of been answered with a two word answer. That answer is "SAME SOUND". Instead.... everyone is getting their rocks off by jumping on the guy. 6 pages of crap. Let it go people.
