Bert Convy, host of Tattletales, Super Password, Win, Lose or Draw and Third Degree, enters the big 'banana section' in the sky after losing a battle with a stroke at age 57.

Also, 25 years ago yesterday, ORIGINAL Name That Tune host George DeWitt had the curtain dropped on HIS life at age 56

R.I.P. Bert and George, both of you are STILL missed! (Well, Bert mostly.....)

Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Judy Rich of the Big Board!'

I thought it was cancer that killed Bert Convy.

I believe it was. Stroke might have been the final straw, but he had undergone a long bout with brain cancer beforehand.

Yuck. I dun want cancer, but I ESPECIALLY dun want it there.

Sounds like the cancer probably led to a massive stroke. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it a slip-and-fall injury that set off everything?

Quote
In 1990, as Convy was hosting his last game "3rd Degree", and preparing to host a re-incarnation of the popular "Match Game", Convy suffered a brain tumor and went through much pain. He believed to have suffered while at his mother, Monica's bedside in the hospital while ailing. Bert slipped and became unconscious. But many people believe the tumor was already present. Bert, while at home, with his second wife, children Jennifer, Josh, and Jonah, with his famous and loved drawings and sketches from his great creation of WIN, LOSE, OR DRAW tragically but peacefully passed away on July 15, 1991. A great man and legendary game show host passing at the age of 57.

Although I would not consider Bert to be one of my top 10 favorite game show hosts, he still was a hell of one.  Very sad that such a brilliant talent had to leave this world at only 57.
