Title: Stone-Stanley Team Breaks Up
Post by: bandit_bobby on July 06, 2004, 08:31:46 AM
It was just recently announced that Scott Stone and David Stanley are ending their long partnership after over a decade. Best known for producing Shop Til' You Drop and the reality show The Mole, David is moving to another unspecified company. Scott will do his shows under Scott Stone Entertaiment.

How about an official press release, or something to that note?  Because I hear that Dick Clark is hosting Millionaire again. ;)

Today's Daily Variety has the story.  Excerpt:

It's splitsville for Stone Stanley Entertainment.

Reality warhorses Scott Stone and David Stanley are amicably dissolving their 14-year partnership in the wake of Stanley's decision to ankle the company.
Yes, bandit_bobby should have cited the source, but at least he was right this time.

Maybe they can partner with Google for a new translator. :-)

Another source with this info is the Prof's site. Looked at the article over there, and was surprised.

If that's the case, I wonder what the Scott Stone Entertainment logo might look like?

The first season of Fun House IIRC was co-packaged by Stone Entertainment Television or some such company name(Stanley wasn't in the picture until the second season). Maybe they'll go back to the logo used then, but it ain't likely.

Yeah, it's dated now...but just for the curious, it was basically the Stone Stanley logo used throughout the Lifetime days minus Stanley's name and a bigger shadow effect. I'm feeling Stone will run with it and keep the same "quality" we've come to expect with S-S. I don't hate all their shows, but not a whole lot will change with this split.

The important thing about S-S is that they've remained in business as an independent boutique game/reality supplier while most of their competitors have been swallowed up by bigger fish.  Granted, most of their output has not been good, but they have had their moments, which for me have been outside of the studio game show genre ("The Mole," "Joe Schmo").  I'm glad that they're still around and that David Stone's going to continue to give the good fight.  I just wish their studio game product was much better--and as Randy Amasia said once, perhaps if Bob Synes had been able to stay around a few more years to teach the kids how to do it, it might've been.
