Title: Balderdash
Post by: whewfan on June 08, 2004, 03:08:40 PM
According to Steve Beverly, a host has been named to host Balderdash.... and all I've got to say is, this show has as much hope as On the Cover.

"Comedienne" Elaine Boosler will host this game where celeb panelists give definitions to obscure words.

This is the same lady that was on H2 during the first season, and when picked, told Tom "I'd like to buy a vowel!" every time she was picked! (I'll bet EVERYONE was falling out of their chairs laughing at THAT!) That joke would've been funny, oh maybe 20 years ago!

To quote Peter Griffin of Family Guy, Boosler is funny as in "Lord knows she tries to be funny".

Perhaps you'd like to see the show first before making that determination?

I'm not saying the game won't be any good, but IMO Elaine Boosler is NOT funny.

#1 Im not too thrilled on the host...

#2 As David Spade would say, I liked it better the first time, when it was called WORDPLAY!

Hopefully people will give her a chance.  She won all of us over.

Wordplay was just word definitions, Balderdash has at least five categories from the board game, plus others that are being added for the show.

ObDisclaimer:  I do have a vested interest in the show :)

Pat Bullard, former Card Sharks host, was supposed to host this, ya know. But, that's life.

First, from Mr. Conn - ooh! I never played that version of "Balderdash" but the other categories interested me when I turned the "Beyond Balderdash" box over.

Or "Oh My Word" or "Take My Word For It"... :)

You mean this concept's been done before??? I'm shocked!!!

When was the law enacted that says every other game show emcee must be an over-the-hill comedian who is past his/her prime?

California Penal Law 16-3410, also known as the  "Jan Murray Charge Account" law.

It's a misdemeanor.

Hey, don't talk about Dick Martin that way!

That was back in the era when you only had to use Arte Johnson -- I mean a washed up comedian -- every couple of years, not every other show.

No dear, that's why he was hired. It's called the Louie Law; I think it's in the FCC rules.
