Our friend Madel Ilagen must be too humble and modest to have posted the news - two afflictions I've never suffered from! So let me toot his horn for him. No spoilers.
Months ago Mandel had an inspiration in his car for a new "Price" game he calls "Half Off". He developed the idea and pitched it to Roger who loved it. Bob loved it, and everybody who saw it loved it. It took quite a while for the game's set to be built, and when you see it you'll know why. It is the nicest set built for the show in years! A classic Price look - great stuff.
There were a few rehearsals in recent weeks where, according to Bob, the usual tweaks were unnecessary - it was perfectly conceived. Most amazing to me is that it is not reminiscent of any other of the dozens of games that I can remember being conceived over the years - it's totally original, and yet this pricing game is a perfect fit with the show. Mandel is rightfully very proud. Our boy even got a hand from the studio audience when introduced by Bob as the game's creator. Kudos buddy!!
The game's debut taped today (Tuesday) and will air this Friday. 5/28. It's the second game played. And if you spot me in the audience it will not be necessary to start a thread of conjecture of what secret meaning it has, like we do everytime Todd visits! ;-)

Thanks for the heads-up Randy. Problem is, I might be leaving my niece's house for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Oh well!

Yes, a big congrats to my friend Mandel. :)

What?!? You're saying there's no need for gossip with no foundation? My God, man, what do you expect us to talk about all weekend?

Congratulations, Mandel!! I can hardly wait to see it.

Seriously , this is great news for a good guy who deserves success...

We don't need to speculate on why you're there, Randy. We already know that you're spying for a foreign government. :-)
Seriously... kudos to Mandel. I'm not a regular TPIR viewer but I'll be watching that day.

Thanks for obscuring the true facts with that red herring, David. You very well might have delayed the awful day when the truth about Todd and my visits is finally discovered.
Meanwhile, I sure hope I didn't over-sell the debut of "Half Off" by being caught up in Mandel's and the on-set excitement. I don't think I did, and I'm anxious to see our members' reaction when the game debut airs.
For those bemoaning that they won't be home, I'd suggest some arbitrary letters such as V C R T I V O. But chances are some of you may stare at it for hours trying to rearrange the letters to form a hint that serves to further divulge the truth behind Todd and my visits to Price! ;-]
Congrats again, Mandel.

To be fair, I'd say that there's a part that's clearly reminiscent of one past pricing game, but since that game has been retired, it doesn't matter.

Gee, Zach, now wouldn't that make your post completely off topic here, since they were mentioning Pricing Games created by Ivy League students, not producers who went to Ivy League schools? Once again, PJTP

You are absolutely correct Scott, at least in how the reveal is staged. But I don't remember the play/strategy/challenge being similar in that retired game. But we'll soon hear many opinions ;-) I assume you saw "Half Off" in rehearsal because I didn't see you at Tuesday's taping, cetainly not "in uniform". I looked for you to say "hi" and to congratulate you (publicly now) on doing your homework from Michigan, having the committment to make the move to town, and the skills to quickly get your first job. Continued success!

Useless trivia motivated by how you arranged those letters...
Burton's license plate: TVVOICE
My license plate: TV VO (VO = industry shorthand for "voiceover")
I only recently saw our cars together.
Oh, and I went to Stamford, but I couldn't find a parking space. It sure looked nice from the car ;-)

I am at a friends house in Irvine. Steve and I were at the taping of Friday's show coincidently. We were proud to be there when Mandel's game was debuted.
Mandel - Congrats on the game debut! It looks fantastic! It was nice to see Bob giving you props during the commercial break.
Steve, thanks for coming to meet Erika and I, it was great to finally meet you! I will send you a private e-mail when we get home.
Randy, it was great meeting you and shaking your hand. It was great to see you there.

Anyways, let's hope there aren't "loud colors" on this game like OTS has.

Before its debut, I'd like to say some things that I think might happen to the set & its placement.
1. The game is most likely will be on the stage.
2. It might be small enough to be concealed behind the giant price tag.
3. The color scheme will be totally diffrent from all the other schemes I've seen.
There. I didn't spoil anything here. Just my own thoughts on what "Half-Off" might look like in terms of placement & color scheme.
-
I'm gonna be able to catch it, but I'm still taping anyways. Looking foward to seeing this in action.

If this isn't posting just to post, I don't know what is. This is random speculation with absolutely no factual merit. The only thing you, me, and 99% of the board knows about the pricing game is Mandel created it.

Missed it but tried to tape the same day on Prime (cable TV station) in Canada. Does anyone know how many days behind Prime is? They just showed the one where the girl in the baseball cap with Barker's Beauties on her shirt was a contestant . I'll probably end up taping TPIR on Prime until it airs.
