Title: Merv spilled the beans?
Post by: Jim on May 20, 2004, 11:09:45 PM
Steve Beverly mentioned on his web site something was being initiated on Jeopardy tonight.  He said most people know what it is.  I don't.  Will someone tell me?  I haven't been able to catch it on television recently.  Thanks.

Posting would require several miles of "spoiler space". Suffice it to say that if you missed this episode you will have plenty of opportunity to learn of and enjoy watching this most unique sequence of episodes.

OK, I will give it a shot....  How about Strip J!?  If your question is wrong, you take off a piece of clothing.  The winner is the person wearing all or most of the clothes.

Just think, Celebrity Strip J! could include Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and Dennis Rodman...  hmmmm...

You sure know the way to this man's heart!

Chris, Matt.... what is the policy on posting massive spoilers? I know you guys have it so well organized that the answer is just a click or two away, but I'm too lazy. If I've violated the rules, simply delete the offending hint and we'll clean it all up in post  ;-)

There was a rule change recently on Jeopardy that will be taken full advantage of, to an extent far exceeding anyone's reasonable expectation.  It will be way cool to watch!

This thread (and the other in Summaries) just fascinates me.

Thing is, I know what's going on, and I'm still confused!

Ah, someone pulled a McKee and won a few dozen games, perhaps McKee himself did it. We'll see if that's the case,

Another key date will be in early June.  And it has nothing to do with the 5/20 show.

Tell me this, though, folks: Wouldn't it have been greater to watch if you DIDN'T know it was gonna happen, first?

"No, 'cuz I wouldn't save seen it from the start!"

Pish-posh. We have people here who roll tape on EVERYTHING. I daresay there is not a MINUTE of original game show programming airing today that SOME member of this group isn't taping, Tivoing, or otherwise recording for archival purposes. If you missed the first three games of Whatever Streak This Might Be, you could have easily gotten them.

Yes, I read ahead of Randy's spoiler to read the hint, same as y'all did. And I could have backed out. And I don't put any blame on Randy at ALL. But I have to say now that I'm a little sorry I read it. The "wow, s/he did it AGAIN!!" factor is now gone.

Well, you're right, Chris.  Your point is right on.  But.....the problem was when Merv hinted of something (apparently this long streak that may go on for a few weeks) on Monday.  It got everyone here wondering what was going on with the show.  If Merv had not said anything, the only people likely to know ahead of time were the J! staff, and (maybe) the Perfesser.

I understand your disappointment, but I'm kind of glad to have the "heads up".  For awhile now I've been skipping through to watch the last ten minutes or so.  If I've Tivo'ed several eps, I might not even do that.

Unless I've missed something, no one has said how long the streak runs.  I think it will still provide some very cool moments.

I am not a usual Jeopardy! viewer. I do not watch the show everyday but I do appreciate someone giving me the heads up to watch, so yes, it does matter to me.

As far as taping the show, that is not my thing. I will enjoy watching the shows regardless of whether I know about the streak or not and that is not "Pish-Posh". :-)

So, who won on Friday? It wasn't the same guy from Thursday according to the Stosh site. Maybe we've been duped. I actually would find that very entertaining. "Suckers! Made ya watch! Hah!".
