Title: MG/HS Taping question
Post by: cmjb13 on April 20, 2004, 07:54:30 PM: Did they tape MG and HS back to back or did they take a break in between the 1st and 2nd part?

How many shows did they tape in a day?

The NBC taping calendar I had from April of 1984 shows tapings on Saturdays and Sundays. One taping during the month was on a Friday.

When I saw "Pyramid" live in 1987, they taped five 25K episodes on Thursday, five 25Ks on Friday, and five 100Ks on Friday. I'm not sure if that was the taping schedule for the entire run of each, though.

They often did do 10 shows in a day(5 $25K and 5 $100K) back in the days of $25K and $100K both being in first run. A Bob Stewart method of efficiency. Geoff Edwards reported on Usenet that the 1989 Jackpot revival also taped 10 shows a day for several days in a row.

But wasn't this the syndicator's fault because of their lack of money? That was at least what I gleamed from all the discussions then...that and the ratings were good, but their lack of cash also kept another order of shows from being produced.

Geoff said the shows were taped, ratings were decent, and then Palladium entertainment, the show's syndicator, had financial problems and went under. This caused the show to only last 13 first run weeks, and end its run after the 13 weeks were repeated.
