Title: Another Jeopardy! Question
Post by: irismason42 on April 17, 2004, 07:26:07 PM
When did Jeopardy! change the set from the "gridding" set to the "sushi bar" set and when it's Double Jeopardy! time, do they still make the BG colors go from blue to red with the "sushi bar" set?

The set change happened partway through the '96-'97 season.  The walls still changed color for the rest of that season, but not beyond that point.

Don't forget, on the 1/23/98 episode the set did indeed change from blue to red which happened to be the last and final time to change colors on the set during the NBA All-Stars episode.

I've long forgotten. Oh wait - I never remembered it in the first place.

And IIRC, the wall color changed back to blue by the time the show was over on the Sushi bar set.

I say that, because, the wall was colored blue for the Jeopardy round, then changed to red for DJ! and FJ! Then after Alex ended the show, the wall slowly changed back to blue.

Also, after the set change. The show still continued to use The Bongo Theme for the rest of the season. Which sounded, IMO, disjointed and out-of-place.

And the microphones were still on the podiums during that season, too.

They'd all be gone by the beginning of the 1997 season, at which point Alex and the players all wore clip-on mics.
