Just saw this posted at the GSN boards, so I hopped over to Donny.com. Take a look for yourself and see the banner at the top of the site.
Interesting? At first, I thought it could be a leftover banner promoting Donny's incarnation of the show, but underneath the banner, it says that more Details will be given in Donny's may newsletter.

All I can say is, "Don't count your treasure chests before they're opened!"
Uh....."Don't count your tunes before they're named."
"Don't count your blanks before they're filled in?"
"Your mystery guests before they've signed in?"
What I'm REALLY getting at is, Let's not get our hopes up.
Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Brett Somers of the Big Board!'

Now that jives with the post about NYC moving the time slot of Pyramid. Figure it like this, why would a station move a "dead" show to a different time slot(other than late night) if it was going to be cancelled anyhow?
-
It sure looks like it is coming back from Donny's website. I guess we will see.

I couldn't imagine why.
Here's to another season of crappy judging.
-
I wonder if those living in Boston, Philladelphia or LA may have sent a bunch of e-mail to Donny into coaxing him to put that banner up there on his site. Strange indeed.
-
It couldn't be possible that GSN bought into a new run of shows, could it?

Why would they want to do that? If it isn't an original or reality they won't have anything to do with it.

Here's the way I look at it: it's a game show. It's better than another reality or makeover show...
However, I don't know if Stephen Brown still lurks, but maybe he and/or other staffers take note of our complaints. Stephen, we don't mean to tell you how to do your job, but trust us with our comments*; we won't steer you wrong. ;-)
*And just for the heck of it, my "constructive criticism" is to keep one steady shot of the team during the whole clue-giving (including Winner's Circle), and don't jump back and forth.

In fact, the L.A. market sent so much e-mail that KCAL moved Pyramid to 12:30 AM because it was so good! Good riddance for a lame-o revival!
Not a fan...

I'm sure everyone here is entitled to their opinion, but it is the 2nd Pyramid slam in this thread(not counting the many others that have been posted here before). Lame-O, for example, would be Kenny/Spenney(LAME!) and Funny Money.
Pyramid is a decent classic(at the very least) that has many fans. I would think twice before calling it lame.

I just checked donny.com. The banner's gone.
Make of that what you will.

I've thought about it several times.
The Clark version of the Pyramid is my all-time favorite game show. Save maybe for Concentration.
The Osmond version was crap. The lone bright spot was the discovery of Donny Osmond as a credible game show host. The game itself was a complete butchery of a classic, and pretty much for no other reason other than someone decided they could.
I'm not saying it SHOULDN'T be brought back. Any half hour of game shows is better than Yet Another Access Hollywood (with Pat O'Brien!) But the fanbois around here refuse to see some VERY fundamental problems with their format that keep it from being the great show it could have been.

I also saw the banner...could the campaign have miraculously worked? I sure hope so...for all its judging flaws, Pyramid's a decent revival, and it'd be nice if Sony reversed its decision and gave it a 3rd season.
And the "Yee-haw!" heard as the Pyramid banner at the top of the page dissolves to the "Pyramid is back!" graphic leads me to believe some good news is in store...

I agree with Chris. Donny has potential to be a good host, but game didn't do much for me. Now if only Donny would host a Concentration revival, *then* we'd be in bidness...

Yes! YES!! You matched the coffee cups! Wow! This is an exciting game!
-
I'm one of those who enjoys both versions. I get annoyed with the current one's judging inconsistencies, but that's not enough to keep me from watching. As for hosting styles, both have their strengths & weaknesses but I prefer Donny's enthusiasm (even when it sometimes goes overboard) to Dick's seeming indifference and "let's hurry and wrap this up so I can leave the set before the credits" style. (And yes, I understand he was busy and had few breaks.)
Now if only someone would get the rights to air the Cullen version. I've yet to see an episode.

I guess I didn't see enough of the hissy fit episodes of "Pyramid" to come to this conclusion...
Ok then, what other game could Donny host and not make a mess of things?

Something loud and energetic. Press Your Luck and Beat The Clock come immediately to mind. What's My Line does not.
"Ten down now! YER ROLLIN' NOW! WOOOOOOOOOO! You go, Bennett Cerf!"
-
Maybe their is a plan for a daytime network version!
-
How about Jeopardy?
Contestant: What is Hydroelectralysis?
Donny: YEAH, BABY!

Sorry, everyone, Pyramid reruns will be going to PAX in the fall, but no new episodes are planned for PAX or syndication. :(

IIRC the poster who said Pyramid was going to PAX in reruns posted on April F. Day. We have no official word on whether PAX(or for that matter GSN) will acquire Osmond Pyramid, or whether ABC Family will continue airing reruns this Fall.
-
Well, this by no means makes it official, but the Perf does have the following headline:

GRRRR.
I just clicked on that link to read the Pyramid story and saw instead what looked very much like the world's biggest Apprentice spoiler.
Thanks, Steve.

I agree with you that Donny would be okay on Concentration, as long as the prizes were truly worth getting excited over. I also agree with Clay that High Rollers would be good, provided he can handle the arithmetic.
Set aside the question of whether Match Game could ever be successful. Assuming it were possible, would Donny be good there? I lean toward yes.
-
If they ever decided to revive "Yours for a Song," Donny would fill Bert Parks' shoes quite well.

Or Name That Tune. He may not be everybody's cup of <Picard>Tea, Earl Grey, Hot</Picard>, but the guy can sing.
As for Match Game, I'd rather see him on a non-celeb show. Too much shmoozing otherwise.

I can appreciate that. It's one reason I didn't watch the news last night on an NBC station, and don't have Today on this morning.
I slammed the window shut as soon as I saw a name and the word "Hired," so as to avoid getting more details. It'll still be interesting enough to watch tonight with Herself, just not quite the surprise I might have hoped for. Oh, well. I'll live.

I was filling in on a talk radio station this morning, and the ABC Radio newscast at the top of the hour not only treated the story as a news item, but actually dedicated a reporter and included sound bites. This for a rival network's TV show.
I'm not at all surprised by the success of The Apprentice, but I am a little...I don't know, disappointed at how we as an audience (and the media at large) accepted it as a bona fide competition. This was Mark Burnett's dream format: an elimination format in which the eliminations are totally controlled. Make no mistake, The Donald was a hired hand in this little falderal. If Burnett wanted somebody fired (or not) then that's what happened, and all it took was a little disclaimer at the end to make it legit.

The disclaimer appeared before the credits on the first episode and near the end in all of the other episodes, along with "Prize winners must meet..." and "Portions of the program not affecting..." (Yep, NBC did require this, even if CBS doesn't on "Survivor.") It said something on the order of "Donald Trump is the sole decider of all contestant elminations, although he receives advice and consultation from his associates and from the producers. All decisions of Mr. Trump are final."
I'm sure someone on the web has the exact verbiage from the disclaimer--if NBC had run it in bigger type, I probably would've had it memorized by now.
