Two game show related movies debuted at TIFF. This and The Luckiest Man in America (http://The Luckiest Man in America) you know it is funny, I envisioned a movie like that with Steve Gutenberg playing Jim Lange.

The TDG logo or set is not the one we know...I guess they didn't get the rights.

Never mind the fact the name of the show is plastered everywhere.

I'm a little confused, but the movie is confirmed to be premiering on Netflix, October 18, however the film distributor's (VVS Films) official website says it will be in theaters on October 11. I've wondered do they mean Canadian theaters only?

A little more confusing is many sites listing the actors and roles don't list Tony Hale as Jim Lange. One of the most reliable sites, IMDb, lists his character as "Ed". The other sites I've looked at don't mention any name, nor simply something like "Host". BTW, Tony Hale also appeared in the film Quiz Lady as Ben Franklin.
The turnaround time from the TIFF screening date, to the Netflix premiere date is over 13 months, which leads me to think "The Luckiest Man in America," may not be in theaters/streaming for at least a year from now.

Ever since the world reopened a few years ago this seems to be the new normal: in theaters for a month or so, streaming at some point within that time frame. We saw “Trap” last month, and a couple weeks later I saw an ad for it on Prime Video.

At the official Netflix site, they are now showing a different "trailer" for the movie:

Netflix often spend a week in theatres first to satisfy Oscar rules.

Toward the end of the Hollywood/Blockbuster Video era, you could start renting new movies almost as fast -- or buying them at your local retailer.

I remember very well. It surprised me a bit because I always equated a quick home release with a flop, so it took me a minute to unlearn that mindset. :P

Interesting that for all of the messages here someone who didn't click on the link would have no idea what this is all about.

Sorry, but I figured many knew about the film already.
Moving along, I just stumbled across some independently published "books," that are just reviews of the film:

The Wikipedia entry for the movie is now listing "Tony Hale as Ed Burke (based on Jim Lange)."
It doesn't make sense at all, to me! This isn't Dragnet!
-
Maybe Jim Lange's estate is overly protective of his image and/or didn't approve of the subject matter?

The mentions I've seen about the movie being in theaters is apparently only Canadian ones.
Already at amazon.ca (Canada), they are showing the movie available for "pre-order," on DVD and Blu-Ray:
https://www.amazon.ca/WOMAN-HOUR-femme-lheure-Blu-ray/dp/B0DJWKNPPW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=20OWP655CE0UW&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.XhqLVvdnsS8ochOYNkhj3IV76_K18uTQ_p15b3X9ldVvK904z_eK1NaVN8JEV_cDc2691HLqJVfHc7PiVwAv97gskZtMuzaCpXpnOBMRNmOFPTWJP0OZXJwQBxVJleljCyHWZ-pCftIl92jlfGVb5vGm3Ds2hD6WwQf72niVHnOwG-BFXiKp8hMMbtyZAPr_yuyk-dOZLlN5_RPXYE11B9HuWtlggRI6nsqS9jY22t9yQt5CZ8xz5LSrVcGTLYBhfPn-1KHrDmM8N8ZT3vxjl3wPg6Zqo06tQmZ4o9k9_kA.G63y_eKY4UFXVVOA9HNVNozoH1e_y1F64DoIg-OJ_-Q&dib_tag=se&keywords=%22woman+of+the+hour%22&qid=1728846013&sprefix=%2Caps%2C70&sr=8-1
Is it likely to come out on DVD or Blu-Ray here in the USA, even at a later date, given it's being shown on Netflix.

It's showing at the Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades this week -- a theater Netflix owns -- and a few other U.S. theaters as well. As parliboy mentioned upthread, this is in order to qualify it for Oscar consideration (and other awards that have similar eligibility requirements).
-
Having seen the movie, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys horrors and thrillers. But of course, the obvious trigger warnings apply.
It's a little more clear why the host is Ed Burke rather than Jim Lange. Without getting spoilery, he is portrayed as an antagonist.

After reading the review in the weekend edition of USA Today, I think I CAN understand now why there's no direct reference to Jim Lange. Jim certainly was not like that, IMO.
