Amazon Prime has been quite busy with game shows lately. First it was the U.S. take on "The 1% Club" followed by Travis Kelce helming a "5th Grader" reboot. Now this ...

Based on the description, this sounds like Michael Davies's "World Series of Pop Culture" with a "Jeopardy" bow on top. No word on host, actual format or premiere.
We also have "Wish List Games" coming to Prime as well ...

Hosted by Nick Cannon with the assistance of "influencer" Lele Pons (as I'm old, I don't know who that is. I'm pretty sure this person is not one of Cannon's 75 or so kids), this show has contestants competing to win everything on their Amazon Wish List, up to $25,000. And the show is 30 minutes in length, per Deadline.

The show will launch in more than 240 countries and territories. It’s a new twist on the classic gameshow and will focus on categories from alternative rock to The Avengers, from Broadway to MMA and Gen Z to Zendaya.
Welp. There goes my chances. :P
/Still plan to try out

My reactive thought was a three-round game with each round dedicated to either music, movies, or TV and played by one member of each team.

Anyone having trouble logging in? It says my email/password are invalid, it won't let me log in using Facebook, and I have yet to receive a reset password email. Wonder if the site isn't as ready as they thought?

I experienced the same things. I made a new account and that seemed to work.

Damn...now the site is down altogether. I guess they didn't expect as much of a response. I'll try again later tonight.

It might not actually be ready for applications yet. Seems like it might be some sort of testing site. It came up high in a Google search for Pop Culture Jeopardy though.
-
Applications for Pop Culture Jeopardy appear to be officially open now:
https://www.jeopardy.com/be-on-j/pop-culture
I would totally apply for this if it were individual contestants, but I could never find two other people who would want to be on a team with me.
-
Our Pop Culture Jeopardy host is Colin Jost (https://x.com/jeopardy/status/1818740604077293713?s=46&t=FEyHQln9qANNcrEBwHjOaw) (SNL/Weekend Update).

So I take it Mayim is more or less out in the Jeopardy! Cinematic Universe? I figured she was a natural fit, being both a sitcom star and former host who they were keeping on the back burner for future projects.

She never got any better.
She was decent....for one of the fill-in non-game-show-host hosts. I think the expectation was that, tag-teaming with Ken, they would both improve. Ken did, by leaps and bounds. She...didn't.
Her refusal to cross a picket line that, while wearing that particular hat, she was fine to cross, just gave them the excuse they needed to let her go.

OCA now lists tape dates for Pop Culture Jeopardy. They'll begin taping on August 17 (one week from when I am typing this), and will tape the entire season over ten taping days from August 17-29.
https://on-camera-audiences.com/shows/Pop_Culture_Jeopardy
It should be noted that while the dates are listed, tickets don't actually seem to be available yet.
Good luck to them?

I would imagine with Colin head-writin' on SNL, his availablity is somewhat limited....

I don't think it's been said what the format or episode order was. Not that I think this is the format, but you could do an 81-team single-knockout tournament in 40 matches, which would easily fit in that range.

Checked OCA again - tickets for Pop Culture Jeopardy are available now.

I actually think that IS the format. Michael Davies said on a recent episode of the Inside Jeopardy podcast that there will be twenty-seven first round matches with three teams in each, which would mean eighty-one teams and forty episodes.

A hint of some possible set changes on regular J!:
https://postlmg.cc/jCD8vnTv
It's a bit difficult to tell, but I think the game board is a single, seam-free screen, and (definitely), the single screen, between Ken and the contestants is positioned higher and appears to have a middle positioned support, not two supports holding it. Something looks different on the contestant stands sides, too!
-
Presumably both versions of Jeopardy! tape in the same studio, so it makes sense that major set changes would carry over.
If you compare the above pictures to the floor we currently see on air (here are two (https://katiecouric.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Jeopardy-WEB.png) recent (https://www.jeopardy.com/sites/default/files/styles/jbuzz_article_teaser/public/2023-09/JEP40_0915_JBuzz_OOS_Featured_Image_1600x900%20(1).jpg) images), you can see that they've filled in the area between the host's position and the game board so there's no longer a sticky-outy part.
-
d so there's no longer a sticky-outy part.
Scott, please remember that a lot of us aren't in the industry. We'd appreciate it if you wouldn't use technical terms.
-
Really hope the extended area in front of the podiums means that Ken can walk up to the contestants for interviews. The COVID-era blocking of him only being able to stand in front the screen was starting to feel weird 4+ years later, especially during the "final chat".
(Personally hoping the removed "sticky-outy part" means that he can do Final J! from the game board like the Alex days.)

I kinda prefer Final Jeopardy from Ken's Personal Screen, otherwise, what's the point of having a Personal Screen? (I'm assuming video clues play from there as well.)
Hell, if we're gonna go big and the gameboard is seam-free, let's do FJ there, and use the WHOLE DAMN THING. "Here's the clue." BOOM.

Last I saw, they play on the monitor below the player scoreboards you see in the photo here (https://www.jeopardy.com/jbuzz/behind-scenes/7-things-you-dont-see-jeopardy-set). That picture's pre-COVID, but you get the gist.

Nice updates, but still a little bit of a letdown considering they hyped up a "new set" on the podcast and this is essentially another half step. Really was hoping those giant letters from Pop Culture made their way over to the regular set.

Definitely looking forward to Pop Culture Jeopardy. I love Colin on Weekend Update.

According to a promo for the Second Chance Tourney on FB, the large letters from PCJ! Are carrying over to the Syndicated version. I think it was a sponsored ad and not on the actual FB page yet.
