Title: GSN Schedule Changes
Post by: BillCullen1 on February 27, 2024, 07:38:44 AM
The following changes took place on the above date. All times are Eastern.

Catch 21 now airs at 8 and 8:30 am. Two episodes back-to-back. Tug of Words, which aired at 8 am, is gone completely. Shame, I liked that show.

25 Words or Less now airs at 9:30 am, replacing Master Minds.

Master Minds now airs twice daily at 3 pm and 6 pm

Blank Slate moves from 6 pm to 2 pm. Not sure if that's a good sign.

So there you have it.

For the first time in forever, GSN is programming something besides paid programming at 6am and 7am. Starting Monday, April 1st, weekdays will have Match Game airing at 6am, and Dylan Lane Chain Reaction at 7am.

Of small note, it seems the 7am run of Chain Reaction will be the 2006-2007 version.

And Blank Slate with Mario Lopez is off the schedule completely. With that and Hey Yahoo, that's two newer shows that did poorly for GSN.

Whoa, this came out of left field. So this being the case, what happens to Beat the Bridge and People Puzzler? Uh-oh.

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

And right after Match Game will be Flip Side with Jaleel White airing at 7 pm on that same date.

Effective 9/16, schedule changes are

4 pm - Chain Reaction replaces Strahan Pyramid
5 pm - Switch
5:30 pm - Beat the Bridge
6 pm - Baldwin Match Game
7 pm - Flip Side

The rest of the schedule remains the same, more or less. All times are Eastern.

Fingers crossed GSN gets to the unaired episode of Match Game '16 that was made during its 5th season.

We know they did at least 58 eps because one show highlighted that fact. Why they didn't wait to highlight their 60th episode, who knows? 58 seems like a weird number to highlight.

Cash Can being the seedy cousin of Cash Cab - where users of the secret stall can earn dough while pinching a loaf.

I saw Card Sharks at 9 pm then Chase: USA edition: ABC edition at 10 p. Tivo had the update, Comcast did not.

Mr. Holland: You should pitch Cash Can at NATPE. It could scarcely be worse than some of what is already extant.

I gotta say, if I'm in there with my pants around my ankles and all of a sudden the alarms go off and the lights start flashing on the stall walls, it's not gonna be WHILE pinching a loaf, because it's all gonna come out at once.

About ten years ago, I had a chance to watch a real sizzle reel for EXACTLY this concept. It was called John Dough. And it was 100% "Cash Cab in a port-a-potty." Person who showed it to me said "We plan on having the longest release form in TV history to make this thing work."

Ngl, John Dough is a pretty damn clever title. Dunno if I would watch, but I love the title.

The Wall will start airing on GSN weeknights at 8 pm ET beginning January 13. Wonder what that means for Press Your Luck, currently airing in that slot.

Well, it sounds like the whole current GSN primetime is getting a makeover because after The Wall is reruns of Kennings (and probably “Blossom Farrah Fowler”) Jeopardy at 9:00PM. So no word on what will happen to Wheel either.

Wheel also has an afternoon slot so I imagine it'll still be there.

Jeopardy! with Alex Trebek will air at 2pm starting on Monday (no idea from where in the run; likely somewhere in the mid-late 2010s unless GSN pulls a legit treat) as well as two episodes daily of the Ken Jennings-era (may or may not include Mayim) at 9PM.  They'll also be airing The Wall at 8PM.

Match Game is cut back to just the 6a-7a hour.

BuzzerBlog last week reported they're starting with 6/2/04, a nice tip of the hat.

The Ken-as-host run is beginning with the S38 finale, the first episode of Luigi de Guzman's run.

Could be an unpopular opinion, but MG '7X stuck out like a sore thumb on the GSN lineup. 6a-7a is a good place for it.

I understand what you mean and I was thinking the same myself, but I loved watching it at lunch everyday.  I'll miss it in that time slot.

As I've said on this Forum before, I no longer have access to GSN (my cable provider moved it to a different package), so I'll probably never get to see either.

GSN usually puts an episode on Youtube a couple days before the premiere, but I had Frndly. For $8 a month I got GSN and several other cable channels or diginets like MeTV.

I only canceled it because my card was hacked and I hate updating my 16-digit number everywhere, so Frndly ended up being one of the sites I forgot was on Autopay. :P

Are they really going to turn a bingo blower, a physical randomization device designed to make sure all players know the game is on the up and up, into a computer animation?

I have a hard time getting excited about entire shows played against (and generated on) a CK wall.

"Hi, Props? We're gonna need two contestant podiums. One X, One O."

"Got it! Any more set pieces? A game board, maybe?"

"Nope, we're good."

"Really? Maybe something for the host?

"Naw. We're gonna tell Brooke to wear a lot of green pantsuits."

In the case of the former, almost literally.
