Randy West posted on his facebook page about Tic Tac Dough being rebooted for Gsn. I wonder if Tom Bergeron will host or not.

Then there's the evergreen format that started in TV's first decade, Jack Barry and Dan Enright's "Tic Tac Dough." From its 1956 debut from NBC's Studio 6B, through various network and syndicated versions, most notably Wink Martindale's seven year run, the game almost returned on NBC during the height of Covid when the great Harry Friedman produced a 2021 pilot of an updated version hosted by Tom Bergeron.
The format is controlled by Sony, and the company is apparently prepping a new run for their GSN property. Details after Sony makes their announcement.

Just found Randy's Facebook post about this - he says in a comment that Tom Bergeron will NOT be hosting.
This has to happen months after I stop receiving GSN (my cable provider moved it to a different package)?

You'll never guess what the grand prize is.

It'd be silly to think the dragon is going to rap. It's 2024!
The dragon is going to post TikToks.

$10K, when adjusted for inflation, is about the same or less than the $3,000-$4,000 prize packages that were played for originally.

Don’t give them ideas. 🙂

“I’m a dragon. Of course I’m gonna take your money!”

My question is how will they self-contain the show and why is it a speed round?

You will take your 7-10 answers in :60 for $10,000 and you will like it! /s
I'm guessing do like HSq and you bank the pot (in points, of course) for each TTD. Highest score after three or four rounds wins. For a bonus round, I always liked the idea of having to get three-in-a-row in :30. Get the wrong answer, and it's a block a la Blockbusters. Unpopular opinion, no one but the fanboys would miss the Dragon and they're just gonna complain about it rapping anyway.

They could put dragons in the blocked squares.
Unless their “experts with X’s & O’s” bring something incredible to the table, Tic Tac Dough will be mighty dull without champions on long streaks or big rollover pots.

If you're a member of (The New) GSN TV Nation, there's a survey available now. Log in to give your input on TTD format, set, etc. It could definitely use our intervention.

What would you call incredible, Neumann?

And there’s a preview now on YouTube.
Words fail me.

I have plenty of words, but they are shown in different sizes on the gameboard. (God that looks so sloppy).
This show has "iPhone Trivia Game with In-App Purchases" vibes all around. Maybe between matches, we can sit through ads for Royal Match or some other shovelware.
Hopefully, when this goes to air they can get a larger budget so the host can afford to blink.
-
It looks like a presentation or pilot. I don’t think GSN would suddenly opt for a virtual set for an original.

If I knew, I’d be one of their experts! Starting bottom row middle wouldn’t be it, though.

Why not? The virtual set looked cool.

Whoever posted it just got themselves a copyright strike. Hope it was worth it! :)

Appeared to be, for lack of a better term, a burner account, with just this and a 30-second snippet of some unnamed word game similar to America Says.
He went to the trouble of blurring out the part where it said not to share this. It's not like he didn't know what he was doing.

One of these days a leaked TTD pilot will stay on the Internet longer than 3 hours. /s
-
The set didn’t bother me. Hosting, contestants, and game play defined “robotic.”
There’s so little movement in TTD—contestants and host are in the same fixed positions throughout the game—that you’ve got to have them do something interesting to avoid viewers losing interest. Wink isn’t my favorite all-time host, but he did a great job of keeping viewers involved. (I am not suggesting that he or Tom Bergeron be brought in.)

Oh, that’s what that weird line in the middle of the screen was?

IIRC, it was the same with the Bergeron pilot. Honestly, that's the funniest part of this show's legacy- that someone is so brazenly cavalier about this show that production has now leaked two pilot presentations that made it to us.
