On tournament episodes of the The $50,000 Pyramid, do you play for an additional $50,000 or for a total of $50,000?

I believe it was $50k total. Bob Stewart was known to cut corners. On the previous Pyramids, the $10k and $25k don't add up for $25k Pyramid. Same with the dollar figures for $20k Pyramid.

Well, on $20K, "adding up" didn't really matter, as you went home once you won in the WC, whether it was 10, 15, or 20.
But if the 50K was a total, did that include money won on the contestant's first appearance (up to 10K, as I call), or just during the tournament (where I think you could win 20K in the first week - 5 on the Mon/Tue appearance, 5 on Wed/Thu, only to lose when the opponent also won 5 and you lost the tiebreaker, and then 10 on Friday)?

Going to need confirmation from somebody other than Matt K. Given that the $100,000 playoff was a bonus I don’t know why Bob would basically round up to $50k, though I guess if you win another $20k onThe way that could get close to $100,000 for an adept player.
I’d say watch an episode of the show.

There used to be a picture of one of the grand winners holding a check with Dick Clark. I just watched the beginning of her winning episode and Dick mentions someone can walk out with a $50K check.
My very educated guess is that it was 50K extra. Giving the contestant a 30-40K bonus would be poor form even for Bob.
