March 27 (as per CBS' Website) 9-10 eastern/pacific.
Also they mention Plinko will be worth up to a new amount of 250,000!!!!!
That's 50,000 a chip, if my math is correct!
-
Yes, that's correct!
250,000 divided by 5 = 50,000.
I would hope that those of us who are bad at math (not mentioning any names!) are taking notes. :)

Bear in mind that on that date two of the Final Four in college basketball will be decided (the other two the next day), so if the second game runs long TPiR could be delayed/dispensed with.

(Just releasing my comment) I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!! And my prediction was right.
Awhile back after getting information about when the first two TPIR MDS specials would air, because this third episode is all about college, it would seem appropriate to air at the NCAA March Madness games. And I'm sure during this month, we get a good young audience during these games....
For now...GO ST. JOES!!! UNDEFEATED IN REGULAR SEASON!!!! :) haha!

Correctamundo! But you would have had a clue sooner had you checked my website "news" page ;-p . I never announce anything before the day the network/producer wants it out, but I sometimes wake up a lot earlier in the morning!
Let's hope this primetimer scores as well as the others have. It would be cool to see regular MDS specials in primetime. I make a brief visit to studio 33 on Tuesday to re-record the show's opening so that it directly relates to CBS' March Madness. Big Bucks, No Spoilers ;-)

That's likely why they have gone to the 9:00pm starting time.

True, but I seem to recall that the Kent State/Indiana regional final a couple of years ago (back in the days when my beloved Hoosiers were actually good) took so long to play that what had been scheduled at 9PM ET aired either just before 10PM or didn't air at all (and this was a 7PM ET tip-off). So, it is entirely possible but not likely that TPiR could conceivably be dispensed with if it had to be (or they could kick out whatever would air at 10PM).

I imagine if that were the case, they would just air at 10, so it will air in conjunction, with the tourney.

Whoop-de-doo.
(No offense, Randy. I'm sure I'll enjoy hearing "$250,000!!!!!")

$50,000 a chip? Wow, finally, a chance of breaking the bank with $100,000 or more!
We've yet to see a $100K+ winner in Plinko, and this MDS might just have what we're looking for!

Speak for yourself. It's too much money if you ask me.

I have to go along with Chris on this one. I really don't care whether the middle slot is worth $5,000; $10,000; $20,000; or $50,000, it's still Plinko.
The reason we haven't ever had a $100,000 winner in the game is because the game has only offered $100,000 a half dozen or so times. If you're going to get excited over something that won't even count as a record, be my guest, I really don't care. Frankly, I don't think we'll see it, either.
Now, if they have a $50,000 space surrounded by eight goose eggs, I might be intrigued.
I remember growing up in the 80s and watching TPIR on the sick days/days off, and thinking that seeing a cash game was a treat, because there were only three or four of them, and they didn't get played every other day like they are now. Watching one of the models come spinning around on the turntable with that big ass $10,000 check just made my day. Now, if it's not Punch Board, I can still see Grand Game, In the Bag or something else. It's not special anymore.

Damn straight.
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I actually would have no problem with Plinko going back to $25,000 in daytime. $50,000, especially without the other slots being changed, is just too darn much.
-
I'm the type of fan to say if the show can give it away without detracting from the show too much go for it.
But I must admit, this 250K Plinko is a bit much. If they did this ONE TIME ONLY, it would be ok (meaning it doesn't repeat if and when there are new PT specials in the next few years.)

"Too much money"? I'm surprised you didn't use your good ol' term "Mo' Money Syndrome"! :)
But anyways, if they don't change the 3 outer Plinko values (to something like $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000), it's going to be pointless and stupid.
Heck, with the current $10,000 slot, they ought to change the 3 outer values on the current Plinko board to $250, $1,000, and $2,500.

Way to pass the basic math course.

With a lead-in like March Madness™, I think you have nothing to worry about.
-
So are you all saying that if you were on the show, playing plinko and they announce the prize as $250,000, that you would turn to Bob and say "THAT'S TOO MUCH!!!" ? :)
Edited Addemdum --- yes, I know you were all laughing on the inside.
-
Just out of curiosity, Randy, when will you be back at the announcer's podium?

Well, um, you just feel free to keep on thinkin' that. :)
I see it's time for my occasional diatribe again.
When I post here, I post as a fan and as a critic of game shows, not as a potential contestant. OF COURSE I'm not gonna throw back $250K Plinko if someone offered to let me play that.
As a potential contestant, I'm looking to maximize my winnings, bottom line. If I could choose any show to go on, it would be WOF, despite the fact that I _HATE_ WOF, because the ratio of cash money dispensed to chuckleheaded contestants who couldn't solve "C_T" if the category was "Feline Animal" is the highest. And if Pat got up there and said "Welcome to Wheel; the top dollar value today will be eleventy billion dollars", and I happen to be standing behind a colored pointer at that moment, I'm certainly not gonna gripe.
As a FAN, though, whenever this happens, I ask myself "does the increase in excitement for the viewer at home (and potential Nielsen point) justify the increase in prize budget?" And in almost every case, the answer is no. Didn't happen when Plinko went from 25K to 50K, didn't happen with the jump to 100K on the MDS's, and at 250K it's just stupid. It's at the point where that number is so big that it DETRACTS from the game for me.
-
I don't care if the top prize is $50K, $100K or $250K as long as I see at least ONE chip in the big money slot every time it's played. To me, that classifies a win in that regard.
Wow! I wonder if my Syracuse will be shifted out West this year & play in Pheonix on March 27 before TPIR, that would DEFINITELY make my Saturday & the WHOLE weekend for that matter.
LET'S GO ORANGE!

Briefly on Tuesday, to change the opening of that College MDS at CBS' request. But beyond that, right now I have no clue. Thanks for asking and for voicing your choice. ;-)

$250,000 is extremly excessive. $100,000 in primetime is good enough. I'd hate to be the person who wins more than $100,000 in Plinko, with taxes and all.

Yeah....all that money.....how upsetting.... ;-)
-
But you're all forgeting, to counteract the exorbitant amount of money given away, the Plinko game will have 100 chips given away ($2500 is the middle slot), and Plinko will be the only game played.
Or not.

I'd bet the farm that's a Fremantle idea, although could be CBS, as some people didn't seem to like the $1M tag, thinking it's too much.
