Title: Highest Jackpots
Post by: Don Howard on March 05, 2004, 08:39:18 AM
That thread I began a few days ago about the jackpots on Jackpot had me
wondering how high the bonus money has gotten on other shows where the top
dollar increased with each missed attempt.
Of course, there's $2.18M on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and $2.55M on
Greed before they made it a straight $2,000,000.
Zach and others, here's your chance to shine.

$55K was hit at least twice on Super Password(1986 and Kerry Ketchem AKA Patrick Quinn's win in 1988). The record SP Cashword was $12K IIRC. The cash jackpot on shopping-era $otC '8x reached $109K in 1984. Wordplay's bonus record was $27,500(in the final week of the show). The Scrabble bonus sprint reached $20,500 in 1993($18K was the highest I remember on the original Scrabble)

Just for some additional information. (I think this is right, let me know if I'm wrong)

The show with the largest jackpot increses was Greed: $50,000+ every tower not conquired

The show with the smallest jackpot increses was Classic Concentration. "Cash Pot" moved $100 every game it wasn't matched and won (Started at $500)

Speaking of, does anyone know the highest CC's "Cash Pot" ever got ?

Can you imagine what the jackpot would have been up to had they not capped it at $2 million when they changed to "Greed: The Series"?

I bet that show would have been the first to offer a $10 million jackpot, although it would have been all but impossible to win.  At least on "Millionaire", several people have won the top prize.
