Title: Variety Article about "The Wall"
Post by: tvmitch on June 25, 2017, 08:29:57 AM
Semi-interesting article about The Wall, with a buried lede, emphasis mine:
Quote
Though the French version lacks the outsize cash payout that heightens the drama on the U.S. series, it has proven to be a success as a five-day-a-week strip in daytime. That, Telegdy hopes, is a sign that the show can work elsewhere in first-run syndication as well as primetime.

“It’s ticking a number of very commercial boxes for us,” he says. “Not only is it a very valuable asset on NBC, it’s starting to look promising for us that it could work in first-run.”

A daily version could still be compelling with just a tenth of the stakes.

For the 7,481st time, The Price Is Right did not invent this.

I fervently disagree--the whole point is the giant wall and giant stakes--I think that a daily version would wear itself out very quickly.

Don't particularly care.  It gets old.

Tangentially related: Turing Tumble just got funded on Kickstarter.  Looking forward to playing it with my son.
