No host chosen yet, but Will Arnett from Arrested Development is producing.

Weekly is probably good idea. And if you thought the Match Game panel had a drink or two before rolling tape, imagine what this group will be like...

It could be a snorting good time.

I might have to take a crack at watching this.

Imagine the lines waiting to meet the celebs.

Consider me extremely disappointed. I thought we were done with this sort of sophomoric humor, but you guys just had to cokes...er....coax one more into existence.

Sorry we drug you into this.

I didn't think a competent Match Game revival could be done, but this summer proved me wrong. Let's see if I can get hooked on this one.

ABC has a good thing going reviving old game shows. Let's hope they don't blow it with this one.
-
Cocaine.
/Wait, I was supposed to make a pun?
-
ABC's lineup is just going to shoot up in the ratings...
-
Judges for the premiere: Molly Shannon, Emily Blunt, and Snoop Dogg.
-
High hopes abound I'm sure.

Serious question for a minute: Match Game added just the right amount of kitsch, while modernizing the show. Past Gong revivals all modernized themselves, but tried to be a little too zany, IMO*. Does a 2010s version work using the kitschiness Chuckie Baby gave us, or will ABC find itself behind the 8-ball trying to get a hit?
/*I seem to remember enjoying the Dave Attell version from a few years ago

It toke me all day to come up with one (didn't help that the heat today made me feel baked), but then I got the munchies and forgot.

That's pot, Dan.
-
So ABC decided to weed out other potential shows for this one, eh?

I was going to say Donald Trump.

I think a lot will have to do with who they would get to host. Back in the Barris era, though the Gary Owens nighttime & Chuck Barris daytime shows were pretty much the same exact format, Gary Owens had given the show, IMHO, an almost (Letters to) Laugh-In feel to the show, while Chuck was a far different slant -- especially in the later years.
The question now is, who should be the host? One of the first names that crossed my mind is Dennis Miller. He has that facetious style that is more Early-Gong Chuckie Baby than an Extreme Gong George Gray.

Brandon stole my answer.

In typical Me-TV fashion (hey, 70 percent accuracy is a passing grade, right?), the network's crack social media team has written up an article on The Gong Show's possible return:
http://metv.com/lists/11-gong-worthy-facts-about-the-gong-show (http://metv.com/lists/11-gong-worthy-facts-about-the-gong-show)
There is a link to an newspaper article from the era. And there are the usual headscratchers (how could John Barbour be fired because of ratings if none of his shows ever aired during the NBC run?). Further, this is the first time a television network has tried to bring the show back. (A syndicated run and two runs on cable channel are not "networks.")

Whoever hosts should provide some mojo.

Billy Bush is available :D

He'd be better for a "Candid Microphone" revival.

I'm sure Billy Bush as new Gong Show host will be more "smoking" than LMAD 2003...that is, if they "hash" something out.

"The Bong Show"? :)
