Title: I've Got a Secret - who's the Instant Songwriter?

On Buzzr tonight, they showed a New Year's Eve episode of IGAS from Dec. 31, 1962, in which one of the guests was a person billed as the Instant Songwriter. He would improvise songs (set to a calypso-style tune) about current events based on topics suggested by the panelists. His name sounded like Steve Patts or something like that. Does anyone here know his correct name or anything else about him?
