Posted on golden-road.net a few days ago, didn't see it here...

Kathleen Bradley is serving as a consultant.  Not clear if it's just a pilot or if the show has already been greenlighted.

/Please, please, please cast Fred Willard as Not Bob Barker

Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, Episodes, Californication, Weeds, Happyish, The Big C. One day Showtime will make a comedy that's actually funny.

Weeds was moderately funny at points, but for unintentional reasons.

The last three seasons were dreadful and we actually began to hate Nancy.

Yup, that's about right from this office too.

So I lost interest in the show about five (six? seven?) seasons in, about the time they went on the run (after they offed Mexican Kingpin) and they were processing weed in laundromats. Are you suggesting I not bother picking it back up?

/remember that It's Garry Shandling's Show was originally Showtime
//so between that and Brothers, that's two winners
///throw in Fat Actress...and that's still two winners

I watched it to conclusion mainly on the strength of Justin Kirk, so make of that what you like.

Count me in agreement on Weeds.  First two or three seasons were strong, but as soon as the change of scenery occurred and the best thing about that show, Kevin Nealon, became an every few episodes character, I lost interest.

Californication, on the other hand, was/is a classic even if it was painfully clear from the beginning how it would end.

It's not even barely amusing while under the influence of the title subject. Shane was quite justified in whacking Pilar with the croquet mallet, however.

/From what I've heard about that stuff.

And YMMV, of course. Nurse Jackie is an all-time favorite here, and Weeds was great fun for the first few seasons.

Nurse Jackie was indeed enjoyable to watch. It just wasn't funny.
