Title: Slates on wild feeds

when I had a C-Band satellite in the 80s and 90s id hear the slates on syndicated game shows. I can remember hearing Johnny Gilbert reading the slate on Jeopardy, but I remember hearing Ed Mackay do that on TJW 90 too and even Larry Van Nuys on TTD 90 so were slates always fed on those kind of feeds?

with the slates id write down the number on the tape after hearing it being read
