They\'ve ordered \"Spellmageddon\" starting in July- a combination of a Spelling Bee and ABC\'s Wipeout...

That. Sounds. Awful.
Reminds me a bit of that show Distraction that aired on Comedy Central years ago. Not really something I\'d get my hopes up over.
But then I see a link on the sidebar, ABC Family Orders Reality Series \'Dancing,\' Docusoap \'Vineyard\'.
Docusoap? This is what we\'re calling shows now?

Gameusopery.

Distraction lost a whole lot of its charm in coming over from England. Naked Geriatric Leapfrog was nowhere to be seen, and only in England would you hear words to strike fear in the hearts of contestants: \"Bring on the shitting pigeons.\" Only in England would you see winners trying to save their prize money from being singed in a toaster, or a contestant gamely using a kid\'s shovel to rescue 50p coins from a cement mixer.
the glaring error on a factual fact
If this was on the main ABC network, I\'d have an issue- but it\'s on ABC Family, so it\'s fine (and probably a perfect show for their target audiences).
\\at least it\'s not like \"Does Someone Have To Go?\" on Fox that\'s starting tonight- I saw some clips and read some stuff on it, and that show is just horrendous...
the glaring error on a factual fact
Is it too much to hope for that this might refer to something other than \"NBC\'s upcoming Million Dollar Mind Game?\"
That would be news if it came back. Hopefully with an American host.
\'Docusoap\' was the term for non-game reality television in the UK about fifteen years ago (see also \'fly-on-the-wall\' documentary) before Big Brother/Survivor et al. It\'s not a term I\'ve heard used for years, but it\'s not new either.
Fair enough...I don\'t expect the writers to know that, but fair enough. :-)

It\'s more intellectually honest than \"reality TV\".
