Title: You Don't Say 1960s Question
Post by: carlisle96 on April 30, 2013, 02:12:57 PM

Forgive me if this was covered before, but I\'ve always wondered how the contestants on You Don\'t Say saw the answers? It looks like they pull out a blank card covering the categories from box that looks like a napkin dispenser. Does anyone know exactly how it worked?

They, um, pulled a card out of a box.

so does this mean it\'s my turn to get smart-mouth replies? Now I know I really belong to this group.

That\'s a really ungrateful way to thank someone who took time out of his day to answer your question.

I wouldn\'t thank him either...as I said, not everything needs the Lemon Touch. This was one of those times.

(in other words, response could\'ve been a little more tactful and not out and out disdainful. As in \"that\'s how they did it, how you saw it, that easily.\")

Yeah, I\'ll go ahead and take Chris Palmer\'s advice regarding tact under advisement, right after I get done with Professor Horan\'s Humility 101...

And throw in \"dismissing the critic because you don\'t like him\"...almost a Triple Play.

Popcorn anyone?

Not at all. I know when I\'ve been bettered.

But knowing when you\'ve been buttered, that\'s another thing entirely. And it costs extra too.

Before the gratuitous shitstorm derails this thread, I\'ll step in to say that I don\'t believe Chris was trying to be a smartass. Looking at the pics on Adam Nedeff\'s site, I think it really was that simple. I doubt You Don\'t Say used a mechanical setup like on Password.

Looking at an episode on Youtube, it indeed looks like a pull-card system, kinda like a fancier version of the card boxes used in Trivial Pursuit.

Thanks for a sensible response. The reason I asked is becasue the contestants appear to look into the box and not at the card they pull out, so I was just wondering exactly why it was set up this way.

If that be the case upon the new evidence...withdrawn.
