Unfortuneatly, when I took it home I found out it was in the PAL (European) format, not the NTSC (US) format.

This has been tried before - http://www.tvweek.co...ritish_new.php. (http://\"http://www.tvweek.com/news/2009/03/nbc_looks_to_adapt_british_new.php.\")
Included in the above article:
"NBC declined comment on its plans for 'News,' but it seems likely the network will make some changes to the show’s format in order to make it fit with the big 'event' feel seen in most primetime reality shows."
There's your thought for the day. I have these horrible visions of "$1,000,000 Have I Got News For You" in my head.

TBS has been digging around for some kind of game show to grace their airwaves. Match Game obviously didn't pan out, but I doubt something like Have I Got News For You would succeed mostly because the same audience that appreciates HIGNFY isn't necessarily tuning in after The Big Bang Theory or Meet the Browns. Maybe on something a little more high-brow or edgy, like a Comedy Central or an FX. (Hell, swap Brand X for HIGNFY and you've got something.)
