This might be a good topic.
Anyone notice unsuall occurances appearing in diffrent shows ? Here's a couple examples:
On the Final episode of Marshal "HS" (1980), the contestant picks George Gobel in the lower left-hand corner on the last bonus round and nails the $5000
On the Final episode of Bergerons's ToC (2003), the contestant picks Martin Mull in the lower left-hand corner and nails the big $50,000
Both contestants were female.
And...
A Grundy Show, $ale of the Century on it's last episode (1989), gave away $6000 in the WBMG
Another Grundy Show, Scrabble on it's last episode (1990), gave away $6000 in the Bonus Sprint
Both previous attempts were unsuccefull.
Hmmm... can you think of more ?

The two highest winners in Daytime TPIR history aired exactly 10 years to the day apart(Danielle's $88,876 win on 1/17/92, an $85,849 win including a Dodge Viper on 1/17/2002)

Yeah, and Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy, and Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln.
Coincidence, nothing more, and if you're willing to stretch it enough (and it looks like you are), you can find coicidences in almost anything.

Coincidences in anything?
Well, there's two Brandons on this board, both born in 1982. That's a good one, eh? Eh?.....anyone? Or how about the fact that when my mom and I saw his HS appearance last year, we both agreed that he and I have very similar voices?
(Forgive the stupidity and rambling...finals week does that to you)

Lincoln's assassin shot from a theatre, and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy's assassin shot from a warehouse, and hid in a theatre.
Both Lincoln and Kennedy had vice president's named Johnson.
There are a few more. I can't think of them right now.

Case in point--Don Novello in the "Gilda Live" stage performance (not to mention the film) did a terrific riff using Jimmy Carter and Calvin Coolidge--calling it the "Carter-Coolidge Coincidenza". An example, and forgive my bad transliteration:
"Carter" comiencia con la letre "C"
"Coolidge" comiencia con la letre "C"
(after a pause, and some more Italian that I can't remember)
Y "Coincidenza" comiencia con la letre "C"
At that point, he breaks back into English and says "That's good stuff." And it was.

The first $100,000 win of the season on Wheel of Fortune the last 2 seasons have happened in December.
The 2 $1,000,000 wins on Sydnicated Millionaire happened during sweeps.

The first million dollar winner on prime time WWTBAM and the first million dollar winner on syndicated WWTBAM each have names of movie directors: John Carpenter & Kevin Smith.

As I pointed out in another thread just the other day, our own Zach Horan and my older brother William Dixon, were born only three days apart from each other.
ObGameShow: The Nick version of Double Dare premiered on what was Amy Jo Johnson's 16th birthday. Another Nick game show, Figure It Out, premiered on what was my 16th birthday.

Well, I thought that was a coincidence that fit the topic. Apparently, I didn't get it as well as I had thought I did, according to you. If that's the case, I'll probably delete that post later.

Um...the fact that someone on this board was born three days apart from someone who doesn't post here can be said about.....ALL OF US!
There was a question used on Millionaire (syndie) and J! on the same day that was kinda coincidental (although it can't be the first time something like that's happened).

Well, this thread is about game show coincidences, and it snowballed from there. That might happen when all the useful info gets burned early.
Ob16thBirthday: Get the Picture debuted on Nickelodeon the same day I turned 16. That combined with Thad's input is a coincidence.
ObGameShow: GtP host Mike O'Malley is now on the same network as Bob Barker.

Didn't they give away a house on the final episode of "Dream House?" Which would be far more staggering odds than a Scrabble Sprint win.

Yep...the also gave away one on the Christmas episode. Not saying it was rigged, but I wonder if the producers might have made those scenarios just to be nice to the contestants.
DIRECTOR: They said "7-5-7." Get ready to sound the buzzer.
PRODUCER: Aww, what the hell...it's Christmas/the last episode...give 'em the damn house.
-
If we want to go that route, there's the couple that just happened to win their Dream House on the final show of the NBC Eubanks series in the 1980s...

Hey, didja know that in the dictionary under "redundant" it says "See 'redundant'"? :)
-
Here's an interesting fact. From 1966 to 1976, there was always a Bob Eubanks or Jim Peck show on the ABC lineup but never concurrently. Newlywed gave way to "Big Showdown" which was succeeded by "Rhyme & Reason" and when R&R ended, "Hot Seat" began.

7-5-7 as the winning combo on the "Dream House" Christmas episode?
That's no coincidence.
It would appropriately make sense if the winning combo were 1-2-5.
But they won the house, which made for a Winning Christmas, so that's not too shabby.

7-5-7 was just an example. Apparently I need to start making footnotes out of all of my scenarios...
DIRECTOR: They said "7-5-7." [1] Get ready to sound the buzzer. [2]
PRODUCER: Aww, what the hell...it's Christmas/the last episode...give 'em the damn house. [3]
[1] 7-5-7 would be the chosen combination chosen by the couple. It is also the author's area code.
[2] The buzzer would be sounded because 7-5-7 is not the right code for the house.
[2a] I have no clue what the actual combination, but I'm sure someone will tell me even though I couldn't care less.
[3] Because the producer is in a good mood, they decide to give the house away, even though 7-5-7 is not the combination to the "house."
Did I just seriously do all that?! :-P

[/quote]
Jay "J. Wo" Wolpert Enterprises had two game shows premiere on January 3rd and end on April 1st, albeit five years apart: Hit Man and Blackout.
Skip Stephenson was on the last episode of MG82 and the first of MGHS hour, and Nell Carter was on the MG91 finale and the first aired episode of MG98.
-
Or if the show were titled "Dream Airplane," with the appropriate prize.
Then when someone won a house, they could've played the MGP logo "fly out" sound heard during the end credits of Super Password. :-)
Chuck Donegan (The Illustrious "Chuckie Baby")
-
Other unusual things that occur are the game board sweep in the H2 Bonus Round, which occurred only a few times.
-
[3] Because the producer is in a good mood, they decide to give the house away, even though 7-5-7 is not the combination to the "house."
Okay...I know this is all in jest, but if this kind of thing actually did occur on some show, somewhere, wouldn't this fall under the category of rigging the show?
-
I don't think so....IF they mention it. If the doors just light up and open because the producers feel like it and no mention is ever made that the contestant really lost, then yeah, it's "rigged."
There was an episode of British PiR with....whoever came between Leslie Crowther and Bruce Forsythe.....where the host just felt like giving away the trip(?) and so the contestant got the prize even though she lost the dice game. Because it happened due to the host's saying so, it's not rigged, but if they changed the price of the thing on the spot, then yeah, rigged.
