Post by: Chelsea Thrasher on August 26, 2011, 08:34:11 PM
What's new: $100,000 Pyramid
What's returning to weekdays: Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Regis), Whammy!

2:30 PM: 1 vs. 100 (Inaba) (replaces Chain Reaction)
3:00 PM: Whammy! (replaces Lingo)
3:30 PM: Chain Reaction (Lane) (replaces 1 vs. 100)
6:00 PM: Lingo (Engvall) (replaces Baggage)
6:30 PM: Baggage (replaces Newlywed Game)
7:00 PM: Newlywed Game (Shepherd) (replaces Love Triangle)
8:00 PM: Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Regis) (replaces Lingo x2)
9:00 PM: Deal or No Deal (NBC) (replaces Newlywed Game x2)
11:00 PM: Newlywed Game (Shepherd) (replaces Lingo)
11:30 PM: Baggage (replaces Improv)
2:00 AM: $25,000 Pyramid (replaces Lingo)
2:30 AM: $100,000 Pyramid (replaces Improv)

Saturdays:
4:00 PM: Family Feud (O'Hurley) (replaces Newlywed Game)
7:30 PM: Chain Reaction (replaces Lingo)

Sundays:
2:00pm - Deal or No Deal (Syndicated) (replaces Lingo)
8:00pm - Deal or No Deal (NBC) (replaces Improv x2)*
11:00pm - Catch-21 (replaces Improv)*
11:30pm - Chain Reaction                   (Lane) (replaces Improv)*
*Stunt programming has been airing here for the past month. Improv was still the regularly scheduled slot-holder

Improv gets cut dramatically (from 3 airings per day to 1, with all weekend airings cut), the new Lingo gets cut even more dramatically (from 4 airings to 1), Love Triangle is gone aside from 4:30p weekends, and Deal or No Deal is back to being on 3x/day. (1p, 5p, 9p)...oh, and more Pyramid.

I must admit I'm surprised to see Whammy again.  I guess it must cost GSN less to air reruns of their own originals than it does some other library show.

Some people have said time and time again that if GSN loves Whammy! so much, why don't they revive it? In fact, weren't there plans to do a third season, but then they scrapped them due to the 2004 changeover?

Those people have a significant lack of understanding of network economics.

If they mean revive it instead of rerunning it, then I agree that they don't understand economics. If they mean revive Whammy instead of reviving some other show, then there's a valid point to be made.

I would venture to guess that GSN will get/has gotten more mileage from Woolery Lingo than Engvall Lingo.

According to my DirecTv guide, John Davidson's version is finally, outside if youtube, getting the light of day.

Can we confirm this version actually aired?

Sorry, it's Dick Clark (http://"http://www.flashgameshows.com/wordpress/scheds/8-29-11.pdf").  But it's still a welcome addition to the schedule.

Yeah, I was gonna say, do not put any stock in the DirecTV guide (or any guide, really) having any correct information for GSN programming beyond the title of the show -- and even then, maybe not. For whatever reason, the listings services don't have accurate data for anything on GSN, so random info sometimes ends up being squirted out of the database.

we need more classics on GSN and get rid of baggage, improv, shepard 1 vs 100 and other crap GSN has.  shepard newlywed game is ok and we need to cut down on DOND (both versions)

Looks like a job for Classix!

If it's a game show or anything else where it is just the same thing day in, day out the entry is going to spit out whatever was in the database when the show was first added.

A lot of the entry of programming information into directory services whether it is ours, Tribune's or Zap2It's, most of it is entered without human involvement.  We either get an XML file directly (those are the people you love), a document that can be torn apart through intelligent means like Excel (those are the people you tolerate), a document that has to be somewhat manhandled like a PDF (those are the people you grumble about) or a poorly worded e-mail that has to be manually entered (those are the people you want to kill).

The only thing that gets much human attention at all are network schedules, major cable channels, infomercials that pay for their title to be listed, most affiliates and Video on Demand (since those can become refund issues for your customer).  Everything else is considered secondary.
