Title: I can name that rare eBay item in 3 notes...
Post by: ChuckNet on November 29, 2003, 08:18:27 PM

Another ep would be great to have on the circuit, but I suspect the $69 starting bid might be a bit too steep for 1 GS ep, no matter how rare...

Kinda OT, but I went to the Museum of TV and Radio today and saw Kennedy NTT.....it was the infamous "Good Vibrations" ep. Eeek.

But the delightfully cheezy theme song w/ lyrics at the end made up for it. :-)

Certainly ANY episode of Name That Tune would be interesting to find, but it would seem extremely odd to me than any of Tom Kennedy's NTT episodes would have been preserved on 16mm film.  By 1974, wouldn't they have been videotaped?

I'm wondering if this guy knows exactly what he has.  It's not as though there's a lot of detail in the description.

Well, as to the exact reason was for making it, I'm not certain-- but it's possible it was created for the Armed Forces Network.  Film copies were required for circulation to the overseas troops, and they were still routinely being made in that time period.

And it's actually been offered a couple of times before, but in truth, I'm not so much of an NTT fan, and even though I'm an archivist, I can't get too worked up about an episode that almost certainly exists on a video master, but is being allowed to gather dust because of music clearance issues.

So, that's why I haven't taken it off the market myself...   :)

This seller has put this episode up for bids on eBay several times, the first time with a $199.99 starting bid.  I've thought about purchasing it in the past but it hurts to be a poor college student.

I believe that the first episode of 1978 "Jeopardy" that's in the trade curcuit exists because of this reason.  The copy that we all have has commercials, but I'm certain they're not the original NBC commercials.
