Title: Wordplay SFX Question
Post by: Chris Kennedy on April 10, 2010, 03:28:57 PM
Hi.

Is the original Wheel Of Fortune vowels only beeps, combined with the Hot Potato right answer bell, the SFX used for guessing a correct definition on Wordplay?

Something tells me that it is.  But, if not, is somebody able to identify what other sound is played along with HP's bell for the correct definition SFX?

Thanks much in advance.  Take care.

Without hearing it I can't answer, BUT curiously all three shows' sfx were on MacKenzie loops on the shelves at the NBC-Burbank sfx department when it closed a few years back.

I had to listen to it a couple of times, but it doesn't sound like any of the vowels left beeps. But now, I can't figure out where I've heard that tone...

I thought you could hear the +5 "ting!" from Sale of the Century with the Hot Potato bells.

Sorry I can't make that call with any certainty, but it does sound like a combination of 2 or more possibly familiar sounds. While on the subject of Wordplay sfx, among the McKenzie loops in my posession that I have NOT un-wound to play on a reel to reel machine (and thus haven't heard it) is a 3 second sound labelled "Money Post". Can you figure out what that is and link me to a YouTube video with that goodie in use? THANKS!
