Title: Studio 33 Behind the Scenes
Post by: gsfan85 on March 31, 2010, 09:37:17 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm heading to LA to Television City next week for some work-related stuff, which got me thinking of all the shows that taped in Studio 33.  Shows like The Price is Right and Match Game always showed the audience, but Pyramid...never.

Does anyone know of any behind the scenes pictures of the Studio 33 days of Pyramid, or any other show that normally didn't show the crowd?  Would love to see what the sets looked like from the audience perspective.

Thanks.

Jefferson Graham's "Come on Down!" book from '87[?] shows some shots of Johnny Gilbert on the job at "Pyramid", and I've seen some other shots from on-stage, but that's about all. Nothing from the audience POV.

The Child's Play section (http://\"http://www.tvpmm.com/documents/84.html\") in TVPMM's images has some cool shots of 33. The opening of TJW '90 shows the familiar end lip of the stage, as does the opening of Family Feud from Bullseye days on. And this clip (http://\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTe6NUSLcNg\") from the Pat Sajak Show gives you a unique perspective of WOF at 33. They had to add a special camera platform over the audience it looks like.

Three pictures on this page look like they might be 33:

Not a game show, but Bill Maher jumped into the audience to confront some hecklers in this clip (http://\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho5L7fj337M\"). Rather than taking the stairs back up on stage, he just leaped over where Contestants Row would be.

I would have loved to see Maher kick the crap out of those Truthers. Idiot protesters...

Yes, correct. I have this book. There's also an inside control room shot during a Pyramid episode. I'll try and find this book and scan the pics at some point in the next few days.

I used to borrow that book from the local library frequently while the book was in print, then when it went out of print, it became a reference book, and couldn't be loaned out.  But I remember the Johnny Gilbert "Pyramid" photo vividly, because I always wanted to have the jacket that he wore in the pic with the "New $25,000 Pyramid" logo on the back.  I always thought that would look cool to wear to school.

Not trying to step on Adam's toes here, but since this thread is about to fall off the first page and into the archives of obscurity, I uploaded the pics here (http://\"http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm57/furd_burfel/controlroom.jpg\") and here (http://\"http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm57/furd_burfel/gilbert.jpg\").
