I have seven episodes of Super Pay Cards! on DVD, and I think it's a decent show. Not among those episodes is something I've heard talk of (both here and elsewhere) for years -- "The Crockpot Incident", which I've searched for online (even asking on Wikipedia's Pay Cards! talk page) to no avail.
If anybody could please fill me in on the details, I'd appreciate it (it was on the Eli/David episode, which I don't have).

Did my own digging, some person got mad over only winning a crock pot on the audience game?

I recall reading something about that, but I don't recall the "got mad" part.
-
It was indeed on the Eli vs. David episode.
Mary Lou played the audience game with a member of the studio audience and the prize was a crockpot.
Seriously. That's it.
I think back in the days of alt.tv.game-shows, there was an inside joke about Mary Lou Basaraba and crockpots amongst the members.
I just don't remember what the joke was nor what made it funny.

Fire escape ladders were also awarded as prizes for audience members.
It is unknown to me if there were any Fire Escape Ladder Incidents, however.

Well, for those who attended GSC4 back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, some may recall the chuckles induced by my very creepy Mary Lou impression, consisting of me reciting the payoff listing and punctuating it with an extra creepy "And $50 for High Hand"...
After those poor dudes had to witness impressions of Mary Lou, JoAnne Worley and, worst of all, Peggy Cass AS JoAnne Worley, I have often wondered if their lives were ever quite the same again or have their daydreams and nightmares been haunted constantly ever since...:)
Damn...those were the days...

I was there, but don't recall that. When you say GSC4, are you referring to Convention or Congrefs?

Further back then that...We were up to GSC8 or 9 by then. The former had Chuck Donegan read a "novel" that Mary Lou had sent to the GSC folks, and the latter had Mary Lou Bunchofshabba call in as a "mystery guest".

I'll leave most of the play-by-play commentary to Mr. Donegan, but the "novel" was actually a 3 or 4 page letter we gave him to read at the GSC as a surprise. Then the following GSC in Cleveland, after the mystery guest segment was over, Chuck played a special Super Pay Cards audience game with MLB, and won his own crockpot!

GSC4 (the "Convention") was held in June, 1996 in Atlanta, based primarily at my condo and at Brad Francini's home. And despite the horrifying images that Jake refers to, most of us have lived to tell the tale. :-)

Speaking of GSC4 and horrifying images, isn't there a picture of us on Facebook?

I would not want to party with someone who would get mad over winning a Crock Pot. Crock Pots are awesome. You can make (http://\"http://rainydaygal.com/?p=1420\") things like these (http://\"http://rainydaygal.com/?p=607\") in a Crock Pot.

I still have a stack of the 'used' Match Game cards from the following year at Aaron Sica's place.
And who was responsible for the Dream House mix-tape?
'Dream House...Dream House...Dream House...LOOOOOSER!'

Better watch out; some of us have a good portion of GSC4 on tape. I hear the group singing The Better Sex theme music is perfect for Youtube this time of year....;-)

I was at the GSC where Mary Lou called in. Unfortunately she had very little to say about Super Pay Cards. She told an interesting story about her audition, where she says she saw lots of BEAUTIFUL women. Mary told us she never considered herself to be "beautiful", so she was surprised she got the job. She asked the producers why she got the nod, and from what I gather, they were more interested in a lady that would interact well with Art and the contestants, as opposed to being "eye candy".
She also said that the producers were giving her notes about her performance, because she was noticeably nervous at first and not even looking at the camera. She never had the "role" of a game show hostess, and her approach was to simply think of it as a role, which may be why she sort of comes across as not completely natural.
Beyond that, she spoke mostly about her career in theatre, and if anyone looks at the tape from GSC9, you'll see a LOT of VERY BORED GSCers.

That would be me, Chris. GSC7 was a memorable event indeed. I still have the videotapes made at the event... something like 5 hours worth?

Hey, I'm back...haven't been around these parts much due to a busy sched between work and spending time w/my fiance, but thought I'd drop by to answer the question.
The "crockpot" incident of which you speak refers to an ep in which MLB offered it to an audience member, who looked considerably less-than-enthused about it...that's the long and short of it, but as Paul Harvey would say, "now you know the rest of the story".
