What exactly happened in 'Snap Judgements' final year? Did it become a 'Password' clone right down to game play, set design etc?

Yes, except for the music.

Well, and the host.
The music was the same used by the Cullen Price Is Right ... available on the second GS theme CD.

Well, and the host.
My recollection of Gene Rayburn taking over SJ from Ed McMahon is a little hazy, so I didn't mention it.

I'm gonna have to check my old TV Guides, but I think there was a week where Ed played the game and Gene hosted.

No no, I was referring to the host being Ed McMahon, as opposed to Allen Ludden.

And the second question. Why the ferjerkers did they do this anyway?

Because the shows were very similar ... there was quite a bit of demand for Password's return ... and Snap Judgment wasn't doing well ratings-wise.
It was a strange thing to do, though. I remember Ed explaining, one Friday, that starting Monday SJ would have a "new format" -- one that "many of you have seen before", and he knew we would enjoy. I don't think it even lasted a full year.

Wasn't the front game played to 50, and weren't "Big 5"/"Lightning Round" words worth $100?

It's too bad we don't have any video existence of this show yet...it's been rumoured that there's absolutely nothing left of it. I can't think of another Goodson-Todman show where this is the case.

I don't think anything from the primetime version Winner Take All has been found, and I can swear that there are a couple other early series by the company where there is no surviving material.

"Call My Bluff"(the U.S. version) was one I remember watching originally, but haven't seen it since.

I semi-vividly recall "You're Putting Me On," hosted first by Bill Leyden, then Larry Blyden (who was a previous panelist), but it's apparently 100% gone.

Well, two things. One, that wasn't a G-T show, it was Bob Stewart. The other, it's not 100% gone. At least the pilot exists, and is available for viewing at the Beverly Hills Museum of Television and Radio. Soap actor Ron Husmann was the host of the pilot. We also have an episode guide. Two unaired shows exist, though the expert in such matters (http://\"http://usgameshows.net/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Pilot_Call_My_Bluff\") says they weren't exactly pilots either.
It continues to appear that Snap Judgment is the one G-T show (certainly the biggest G-T show) for which absolutely nothing exists.

I just checked the GSPL page on Call My Bluff and it claims Don Pardo was the announcer. I recall it was Johnny O.

That page is only about the test shows. One of the things about "Snap Judgment" was that our NBC station didn't carry it. This was before I started reading TV Guide for market comparison purposes. Our NBC station went with at 90-min. movie at 9am. That led me to think in error that "Concentration" at 10:30 was the first NBC game of the day. They did eventually show "It Takes Two," however. For SJ, I guess all we have is photographs.
