OK I am going nuts trying to remember something. I recall Rue McClanahan appearing on some game show, had to be during the run of "The Golden Girls." Anyway she was asked where she got her first name from and she told the story that most fans of TGG and of Rue, period, all know.
My question is, which show? For some reason I thought it was Pyramid ($25K or $100K, obviously). But I have not seen any indication of her being on those incarnations. And IMDB is no help, as it only lists her '70s appearances on HS and Cross-Wits.

For those of you who don't know, it's a shortened form of a portmanteau of her parents' first names.

That's how her actual first name, Edda, came about. Rue is just short for her middle name, Ruth.

Yep, that's it. And wasn't it hyphenated?

Not according to her Wikipedia, FWIW.

I know she was on Battlestars. Maybe that was it?

Nah...as I said, I think it was while Golden Girls was on the air. I keep seeing the '80s Pyramid in my mind's eye, but found no evidence that that was the case.

Win, Lose or Draw?

This may be off the map, but I remember her appearing on the short-lived panel game 3rd Degree.
Could that have been it?

Rue (http://\"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/hmtriplecrown/3rddegree1.jpg\") was (http://\"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/hmtriplecrown/3rddegree3.jpg\") on (http://\"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/hmtriplecrown/3rddegree5.jpg\") it (http://\"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/hmtriplecrown/3rddegree8.jpg\").
I've had those images for at least 7 years and finally found a use for them.

The Great Big Book of Credits says she did Tattletales, Rhyme and Reason, Hollywood Squares and The $20,000 Pyramid, all in her Maude days. She also did Animal Crack-Ups.

Wow, they omitted Break The Bank (http://\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPjJ6rkY2Gk\").

The GBBoC (officially Performers' Television Credits, 1948-2000 by David M. Inman in three large volumes) is notoriously incomplete when it comes to game show credits, but on the other hand, it also lists a lot of GS credits that we might not otherwise know about. Inman probably just cross-referenced mountains and mountains of printed listings, and as we all know, not nearly every celebrity game show got its stars listed in TVG and the like.
So yes, he didn't mention Break the Bank (or 3rd Degree or Battlestars or probably a few others). That doesn't make what he DID find any less accurate, or useful.
